try this: "Something chocolately and fruity" - it has no fruit in the actual cake - but the strawberry/raspberry mousse part of the recipe is the fruity part. Cake ingredients are: 2eggs, 25og butter or margarine softened, 2/3 cup cocoa, 2 cups plain flour, 1 cup self raising flour, 1 cup sour cream, milk or buttermilk; 2 tspn bicarbonate of soda; 2 tspn vanilla; 1 cup hot water and 2 cups sugar. Combine all the ingredients in a food processor and pour the batter into a buttered and lined 25cm springform pan. Bake at 180c for 45 to 50 minutes or until the cake is cooked (test with skewer). Cool the cake, and prepare the mousse. the ingredients are; 1&1/2 tblspn gelatine; 6 tblspn cold water, 4 eggs, separated, 1/2 cup sugar, 100ml Grand Marnier, 2 cups hulled strawberries (or raspberries - whatever preferred) - 2 tblspn lemon juice and 1/2 cup cream, whipped. Combine gelatine and cold water, set aside. Beat the egg yolks, with the sugar, until thick. Heat the gelatine and add to the egg yolks with the Grand Marnier. Puree the berries with the lemon juice and fold into the egg yolk mixture. Add the cream to the mixture, beat the egg white until stiff and fold in also. Cut the cake in half through its circumference and place aside, cut side up. Pour on the mousse, then top with remaining cake. Chill. Remove from pan, ice with favourite icing or whipped cream, and decorate as desired. (You can always have sex if this doesn't work!)

Here is the only recipe that I could find that is totally different from the classic Better Than Sex Cake: http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/273/Better_Than_BetterThanSex_Cake3433.shtml

It has pineapple AND chocolate. I have never had one like this before, but it may be what your husband is thinking about. Other than this recipe, my suggestion would be to make the cake using this recipe: http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/163/Better_Than_Sex_Cake45839.shtml
BUT, omit the chocolate and use your favorite (or his) fruit filling in between the layers. Frost with cream cheese frosting. This is the recipe that my family has always used :)

Any cake loaded with fruit is NOT better than sex. It takes chocolate and LOTS of it! If your husband thinks fruit is better than sex there might be a problem. If he is trying to tell you that fruitcake is better than sex there is for sure a problem. Just tell him you couldn't find the recipe so you got a can of whipped cream instead and you are going to make "better than cake sex"! It should be his best birthday ever.

I have a wonderful recipe I just made recently! It has fruit in it and this cake it moist and delicious! It has a banana flavor to it that reminds me of banana nut bread. Here it is:

Hummingbird Cake
From: The Cake Mix Doctor

Cake:

3 c all-purpose flour
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
½ tsp salt
2 cups chopped ripe bananas
1 c. drained, crushed pineapple
1 cup veg. oil, preferably canola
3 large eggs, beaten
1 ½ tsp. vanilla
1 c. finely chopped pecans (opt.)

ICING:

3 oz cream cheese at room temp.
½ c (1 stick) butter at room temp.
1 lb (about 4 ½ cups) confectioners sugar, sifted
1 tsp vanilla

To make the cake, position racks in the center and bottom third of the oven. Preheat oven 350 F. Lightly butter 2 (9-inch) round cake pans; sprinkle evenly with flour, and tap out the excess. Sift the flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon and salt into a bowl., In another bowl, stil or whisk bananas, pineapples, oil, eggs, and vanilla until combined. Do not use an electric mixer. Pour into dry mixture and fold together with a large spatula just until smooth. Do not beat. Fold in pecans (optional) Spread evenly in pans. Bake until the cake springs back when pressed in the center, 30 to 35 minutes. Invert the cakes onto the racks and cool.

To make icing: Using an electric mixer on high speed, beat cream cheese and butter in large bowl until combined. On low speed, gradually beat in sugar, then the vanilla to make a smooth icing.

Place 1 cake layer, upside down, on a serving platter. Spread with about 2/3 cup of icing. Top with the 2nd layer, right side up. Spread the remaining icing over the top and sides of the cake.

My mom makes some kind of cakes, that you have to put the fruit in a jar, and add stuff on certain days, and stir it everyday, but it takes about a month to get it all ready.

Is he talking about the one from Paula Deen? If the link below doesn't work, go to foodnetwork.com and search "Better Than Sex." This cake has pineapple and toasted coconut. Good luck! :)
