There are very few Girls now days that make it out of highschool without having had sex, and lots get pregnant. i waited till i was 19 and in college. When i have my babies and they are your age, im going to tell them that if they have a safe environment and money to raise a baby, then go ahead and have sex. because sex is mostly meant to be a more enjoyable way to have kids. But if they arent ready and cant be the soul provider of someone else's life. then dont have sex. Too many problems can come along with being sexually active. every action has an equal or opposite reaction-in other words, everything you do will have a good or bad consequence-think about all the girls your age that had to be a mommy when they could have been going to movies and having fun. Not that having a baby is bad-but at this point just have fun without all the worry about being prego and if the daddy will help you out or not, etc...but if you do decide to be sexually active-be safe(condoms and birth control and such) and read the book called *taking charge of your fertility* it will help tell you when you can get prego and how to keep from getting that way. educate yourself BIG TIME! and remember that most guys your age and up untill their 20's dont want a baby, they just want an orgasm.

If you are planning on being sexually active, SEE AN OBGYN. There's no two ways about it. Sure, it will probably be awkward having your dad take you the first time, and it's normal to be nervous your first visit, but it's absolutely imperative for your heath. The only way you should be getting birth control is as a prescription from a doctor. (BC meds can be very dangerous in wrong doses for your body!)
OBGYNs are just like any other doctor- it may be a little creepy at first, but rest assured they will work as hard as they can to make you comfortable, and your health is their highest priority! If the issue doesn't sit with your dad, ask an aunt, grandmother, a friend's mom, any adult female you trust. It's very very important, especially if you do plan to be sexually active.

you really should go get an exam. At your age you need annual exams. I know it is awkward but it's important. If there are any problems early detection is the most important. As for the birth control if you feel like there is an chance that you will become sexually active get it but make sure it is prescribed to you. Just tell your dad that you need a physical and go by yourself or have him wait in the waiting room. Contact you local health department. They will do paps and give birth control and it can be free or at a low cost. your father might not even have to know.

Yes, good girl just use birth control + condum for max protection. There is even a shot you can get that I think is once a month and a patch if you don't think you can remember to take a pill everyday.
Just so you know birth control is also used for girls who have very irregular periods (meaning you can't even guess when your next one will be) and/or have painfull periods and want to shorten them (with some pills it lasts only 3 days). If you have this problem you can use it as an excuse for daddy.
Just make sure that if you do have sex make sure that the guy is special and don't feel pressure to do any thing you don't want to. Its YOUR body and don't let any guy try to fool you by saying that he has blue balls and it hurt and 'has' to come. Yeah it hurts him but it goes away. Stay SAFE okay.

It depends on your reasons. If you are planning to be sexually active then yes. If you have trouble with your periods yes. I started the pill at 15 and it really helped me, although i did not actually have sex till i was 17. If you are not comfortable talking to your dad about the pros and cons of the pill i suggest a school nurse or a mother of a close friend. Dads can be frightening for a young girl.

If you're having sex or thinking about having sex then yes, it's probably a good idea to be on birthcontrol. Don't worry about going to an obstetrician...just go to a local planned parenthood. You can go by yourself or with a friend. I wouldn't just let someone get the pills for you, don't ever want to take something that isn't prescribed to you.

Theoretically , birth control is good for any girl who has started her period and could conceive BUT .
There are health side effects so you should visit Planned Parenthood to get the information on all the kinds available & whatever their drawbacks are.
They have people who can explain it all.
Use the locator to find one in your area

As far as deciding to have sex at 14 - BADDD idea.
Your body will be trashed before you hit 18 -
You will be depressed because you'll be 40 sexually and feel used up , cause lots of boys will do you if you start that young. (Lots of guys wanting to have sex , not very many girls accomodating them , so lots will come to you . . . word spreads fast about where to get a booty call)
Wait until at least college .

well to prolong your innocence I would wait till 17 or 18. I got birth control at 14 and I thought it gave me the okay to have sex. It's not worth it to "get a better period" Don't become sexually active, I'm 21 with two children..(planned) and I regret everything I did at 14 til 17..I can still count the number of people I have had sex with on one hand though. Not even the whole hand, but it's not worth it..

You should not have any form of sex that will lead to pregnancy. There is no birth control that is 100% and you are far too young to be responsible for a baby.
Also, girls have sex with a guy and then they get bonded to him because of hormones, whether he's a good guy or not. Lots of girls have thrown away their teens and twenties because they hormonally/sexually bonded to a loser.
You should be developing yourself, not becoming sexually active.
I really cannot imagine in what possible way becoming sexually active at 14 is a good idea. It sounds like about the stupidest idea on the planet, so you sound like you need to learn to think a little better before you go trusting yourself at all.

Using birth control will prevent pregnancy, but if you do plan to be sexually active and use birth control that was not prescribed to you, you HAVE to see a doctor.
You should get a regular exam, and have the doctor explain the types of contraception and their risks and benefits.
Remember that preventing getting pregnant should not be your ONLY objective, you have to care for your health and birth control won't help if you get a yeast infection or some kind of painful lifelong STD.
I realize that you are 14 and my first message to you is not to have sex until you are older, but I cannot because you will do what you please, it is your life so no matter what you decide get an exam first and don't use someone elses pills. This could be a matter of life or death.
Best of luck
p.s no matter what still use condoms
