The only one that can answer for your relationship with God is you and God. Nobody else can pretend to know.

For me it's about understanding. I read 'holy' books for fun, and want to understand how their teachings apply to modern life.
I don't see why you don't accept that someone can have a relationship with God, and then move on. How does this make them any less capable of answering? (I have to admit there are too many atheist know-it-alls who don't know much about religion, but there are many atheists who know the bible better than some Christians)

TTC I thimk it is pretty simple, they do not know the love of God.
'For the god of this world (satan) has blinded their eyes & hardened thier hearts... '
What we call Truth, some call stupidity & thats nothing compared to other persecution '.
As we know God does things so different from mans ways, that other who don't want God, find temporarily another way around him, for something the devil has layed to them on an inviting platter & it looks scrumscious, but it winds up being deadly.
God never hurts us, we are corrected for our own good so we can become better people in His eyes.
Not for self gratification.
yet thats why there are so many of them on here, S&R, when alot of them don't believe in anything - such as athiests.
And if an athiest claims past networks with religion, They never Knew God at all.
Your spot on the money. Thankyou for the Question.
The rest of the answers as mostly when someone puts an effort into it, should be interesting.

You are making an awful big assumption about what other people know or claim to know. And the atheist refusal to accept your imaginary God has every bit as much authority behind it as your reason to believe in your imaginary God.
The atheist certainly has more reason and sanity backing them up.

First you have to understand that most of the people in this forum that claim to be atheists aren't really atheists. Most are just smart mouthed people that think they are funny.
Someone told these "atheists" that Christians and others of faith are stupid, ignorant, and mis-guided. Probably some 3rd grade teacher they had. A liberal, no doubt. So they think they are superior in every way. Mostly I laugh at their condescending, moronic "pat" answers. And you should too and ignore them.
Good Luck

I agree we cant truly know the existence of God. or a higher power. However i find the bible or Koran to be books completely unworthy of being called of a holy nature.
I am sorry if this is the best a all powerful God can do. Then i want nothing to do with him.

If a person has studied the bible then he is qualified to say that there is no evidence for the existence of God.

It's not about the answers, it's about the belief. It's about wanting to know if your friend, family member, parent, child, or significant other believes in some kind of higher meaning, something more pure than money, material, control, or egotism. They want to know that you believe life is more than just the things you own and the things that own you.

This is a good point, when it comes to the origins of origin, there is no knowledge or proof, there is only opinion which is the Play-Doh of the mind.

Because they DO study it. They spend a lot of time reading and exploring religion. They did it to begin with, which led them to their declaration of atheism.
