I will be visiting two different colleges during my spring break. I will be traveling from Denver, CO to Northern Kentucky University and then from NKU to Iowa State University by greyhound.

This would be my first time traveling by MYSELF so I need help with finding the most affordable hotels, food, transportation and any advices would be welcome.

I'll get to Cincinnati on Tuesday and then travel to NKU on Wednesday and leave the same day to get to Iowa State U because my reservation is on Friday. Does ANYBODY know how i can make ALL that happen? PLEASE any ideas or advices would be welcome.

Well, you havent been real clear on how you are getting from place to place- I am assuming its via a flight. Anyway, there is no real "traveling from Cincinnati to NKU". NKU is right on the other side of the river. Depending on where you are, its probably a 10 minute drive- and if you are flying in to the Cincinnati airport, that airport is actually in Kentucky as well, so you are even closer. What I would suggest you do is go to travelocity and do a hotel search, based on the address of the University. It will give you a list of hotels, telling you exactly how far they are from the University, price, etc. So then book your rooms and then do a Mapquest from the airport to the hotel, and then from the hotel to the University. That should get you there and back. How old are you? For the Cincinnati area, public transportation is not great. So you will probably need to rent a car. However, if you are under 21 (or 25 depending on the company), sometimes renting a car can be hard, so you will probably need to call around and take whatever rate you can get. Try to get an on-airport company if you can, since you will just get the car at the airport, and return it there as well. Thats about it- although I am wondering why you would have chosen NKU, all the way from Denver. Not to be mean, but its not a very prestigious school they take pretty much everyone that applies, although on the positive side, I do hear its pretty easy to get really good grades there.

Try contacting the Admissions offices at both NKU and Iowa State. They will often set you up with a current undergraduate and house you in a dorm gratis. There's no better way to get the feel of a school than "eating, sleeping and yes, sometimes drinking" with a current student. And the food on campus with the college food services (while often not fab) is usually pretty reasonable.

Well, the key is to stay close to the school in something like a Motel 6 or Holiday Inn if there are expensive places around, but I doubt it. The main thing is because at NKU it will be a small town of about 12,000 or so and not many large businesses will be there or at ISU so just manage your moneyh well. Buy this stuff around your hometown or even bring it when it comes to thing like necessities (shampoo, toothpaste, etc) because in college towns everything is marked up pretty bad sometimes.
