I was wondering if Phenergan is addictive. along with my doctor I have been looking for a sleep aid. Lunesta, ambien cr just dont work on me. I was in a car accident where I spent several months in the hospital and they would always push phenergan with the morphine to naseau and it would put me to sleep (I know combined with opiates its more sedating). Now the catch is this, Im a recovering drug addict so I am limited in what I can use e.g no benzos, opiates etc. So I would like to know what the addictive qualities, if any, this drug has. I see its sold over the counter in Europe.

Phenergan is not addictive. It is mostly used for nausea but is very sedating. Always consult your pharmacist or physician before combining meds or with questions.

Phenergan is used for nausea and sometimes will make patients sleepy or drowsiness. However if you are a recovering addict I doubt it would make you drowsy. I would suggest you consult with your pharmacist initially and see what he/she can advise and go from there. At least you won't have to pay for an office visit that way. Good luck and I am proud for your recovery.

I don't know that it's really an addictive drug but you can become dependent on it. I know that sounds like the same thing. Addiction is when you have to "have a fix". Dependency is when you feel you can't sleep without a sleep aid. You may find a doctor that would prescribed a low dose for you so you can fall asleep easier. Good luck!
