A few of our neighbors supported us during a recent home owners association issue. I want to give each of them a card and small gift. Any suggestions? By the way, do you guys have spell check? My spell check disappeared.

For some reason a gift in this instance sounds inappropriate. Like a pay off for supporting you, assuming you were right in the first place, it was the "right" thing for them to do.

Perhaps a get together for a buffet or something, but I would keep the issue with the Home Owners Asso. low key.

The gift is dependent on your intimacy with them and your budget.
If close friends/$$$:
1: gift cards to their favorite restaurants (not fast food)
2: spa packages;
3: gift certificate for service (maid, lawn, pool)
Not close/$$:
1: book
2: picture frames
3: cookie bouquet or gift basket
4: Invite them over for a cookout (and everyone must come at some time)
5: movie/theatre tickets

You can almost never go wrong with flowers - especially if you choose a truly beautiful vase that they can enjoy forever. Don't just call the florist - go visit and pick the bouquet yourself.

I love Cookie Bouquet's from:

...but if it was a real fight, you should do more.

You can have something engraved with a poem of thanks...

On a metal vase or etched in glass...

I hope these suggestions help. ...(and yes, I have spell check.)
Peace! --De

Anything homemade is good. If they are a little more worldly I would give them a well chosen but not terribly expensive bottle of wine. I think a note would be appropriate too.

maybe pretty stuff for their home, like a set of pretty candle-stick holders. Crate and Barrel and Pottery Barn are always good places to go for ideas. or starbucks gift certificates or gift certificates to amazon.com or something.

If it were me I would have a block party you could grill up some hamburgers and hot dogs and then have evryone to bring a covered dish. this way everyone can feel that they all helped each other.

What about a small gathering at your place with a bottle of wine and some appetizer and you tell them all how grateful you are to their help.

A basket of fruits such as grapes, apples, pears, oranges, etc. They are healthy and I have never heard of anyone who dislikes a basket of fresh fruits.
