Yes, as far as technology goes, but Jamaica is beautiful.

My opinion yes. I've been to Jamaica a couple of times. It seems like you are either rich living in mansions or poor living in tiny rundown houses. I could be wrong, but it seems there is no middle class.
If it weren't for tourism and coffee would there be many jobs?
I'm not putting down Jamaica, because it is absolutely beautiful. You can't beat the beaches and waterfalls. But, it's a place that I'd rather visit than live, unless I was living in one of those mansions.
