Atheists

'Philosophy' is?

You folks all seem pretty smart, possibly well educated. From some of the banter, it doesn't seem as though anyone is serious about philosophy - mainly just 'anti-Christian' more than atheist.

Arguing for Christianity as 'better' are the life and works of Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Pol Pot, Castro and of course the dynamic duo of father and son Kim - some true atheist stripes contributing to civilization.

Any 'philosophy' is 'better', as measured by its byproduct. In my opinion, if you claim the 'philosopher' title in Y:A, I call you a philophaster.

grin and chuckle

All the philosophers I know are atheists. Most of them started out in the seminary. And then left to get a philosophy degree instead. And become atheists. And sing and dance the night away.

I would say atheists are better at it than Christians because it doesn't require as much oxygen to the brain as,say, an academic debate where atheists would lose the first round, whether they were on the affirmative or negative. Hell, they wouldn't be able to come up with a debate resolution that wasn't as ridiculous as what they're already trying to prove(the "God doesn't exist" thing) That is, unless they found a judge who was willing to rule that circular reasoning was a valid criteria for judging each round, and that topicality and burden of proof were utterly meaningless.

I'd say the Christian. One who serves Christ is usually trained in Philosophy. It usually is a requirement in a Biblical college. Maybe you should take a poll and see how many are trained in Philosophy and what their religion is, including the Atheist.

That's easy...Atheists...a great many Christians don't even know what philosophy is, they confuse it with religion.

I think, if you consider A. J. Ayer's ideas of the place of metaphysics in logic, the atheists would have an edge, since they would not be required to speculate on the motives of an unverifiable being.

Atheists. Any real modern philosopher realizes that the claims of the Christian god are impossible

Just look at flawless Christian arguments like the Cosmological Argument and the Ontological Argument and you'll know the answer.
