They cannot stop you but make sure you have a safe place to go, and that you are not running towards something far more dangerous than you are running from.

You can move out at 18 years of age, because legally you will be an adult. Although, it would be smart to stay in school and have a damn good job before moving out. However most really good paying jobs are full time and then it would be wise to get onto independent studies for your school work. For those who don't know, independent studies is basically home schooling. You meet with an instructor maybe once a week, more or less depending on your classes and situation and you are given your assignments, ask any questions you may have and take any exams you need to take. Then you go home, and do the work in your own time, and hand it in when you have your next meeting with the instructor.
Your parents legally can not stop you from moving out as you will be an adult.
All the high school can do is give you the option of independent studies, regular onsite classes or dropping out. You can legally drop out of high school at 18 years old, however very few GOOD employers hire high school drop outs who have no intentions of returning to high school, unless they eventually go to a community college and get some form of degree or certificate.

No matter what you choose to do in life--you need a plan.... that's the mature way to do it. To move out, you have to be of age---18 I guess--but you better check. Still in high school??? I don't care to know how you plan to do high school while living on your own--seems easy ,but I would guess that you'll be an extra year or two if working enough hours to pay for rent, utilities, food, insurance, a car, fun, clothes, ---I am 59...no kids or wife..an apartment, a truck, some cats---I spend 4 thousand a month on my lifestyle---and I have to work 2 jobs----a firefighter and an artist. With only 24 hours in a day--I don't see how you will make it---unless you drop out and then you don't have school to worry about---oh yes--no one hires a dummy with no education. Well maybe you can move in with friends--you will get used to the overcrowded dirty house with no food and lots of stale beer and puke on the bathroom floor--that's a real nice reason to leave home. So is mom and dad on your case about some stuff--won't let junior have his little hissy fits?? Isn't that too bad...you don't say what it is, but my guess is you know better than them--so move---they will probably be glad to have the extra space and the peace and quiet--not to mention the extra food.

well you obviously know that i will say not to, but yes once you turn 18 you legally become an adult, you are able to sign for yourself, choose your own options at the hopital, and move out on your own. It wont be easy but they are unable to report you as a runaway and you will be able to sign for things yourself. The problem is i doubt you have much credit at this moment and that will be extreamly hard to find a place that will take you, and allow you to sign and live somewhere. Good luck and the best thing is just talk it out with your family and work threw things. Although i will say if any type of abuse is going leave as soon as possible, dont wait for you 18th birthday leave and tell someone, the police or your teachers at school. Good luck and best wishes.

When you turn 18 you are legally able to move out on your own, but are you going to be financially able to? It doesn't matter if you're still in high school, unless your parents can prove that you are mentally unstable or mentally handicapped, there is nothing they can do to stop you. Do you really want to do that to your family though? I don't know what your situation is, and I'm not going to even try to advise you on it, all I'm going to say is be absolutely sure that you can handle the repercussions from a step like this. You only get one set of parents, and although they may piss us off tremendously sometimes, they're only doing what they think is best, and they're doing it out of love for you. Don't cut them off if you can help it.
Good luck.

You are never too young or too old to leave an abusive situation. Get help! Talk to your school counselor, your church. All states now have protective services for troubled souls. At 18 you may be considered "of legal age" -- in other words able to sign for yourself on a contract (say a lease for an apartment). This doesn't mean that the world will allow you to sign that contract-- landlords, banks, employers will consider you a high risk applicant. Be smart, if things are too tough at home, find other responsible adults to guide and support you. They may even be able to help you with your situation at home!

Yes you are an adult at 18 and may move, in fact at 17 1/2 no state will interfere if you move out on your own either.

It depends on your state laws. Usually when you're 18 you can do stuff even if your in high school. Like at my school when you're 18 you can go off campus for lunch. Its just treating you as an adult.
Most parents consider them to be in control of their kid if their 18 and in THEIR house. Because if you're living in there house, not paying rent, and just using up stuff then yes they should have control over you.

Yes, it is legal. You are 18, considered an adult. Back when I was in high school, alot of 18 yr olds who were still in school were out on their own. I say go for it.

They probably cannot stop you, depends on the laws in your state. I know of no state now that requires eighteen year olds to submit to parents wishes, including staying in their house. But be ready, being on your own is tough business. There are things that you have not even thought about. Good Luck
