My mom put my sister up for adoption in 1977 at the blodget hospital in Grand Rapids MI. We are trying to locate her but are having no luck. The name my mom gave her is Tomara Sue Schuitema. I don't know how to go about this because i think birth records are sealed. Can anyone help?

In 1977 birth record would only have been sealed under a court order. So unless your mother had or needed them sealed then you should be able to get them.
If your sisters new parents changed her name then it may be hard to find her using just her birth certificate.
You might try the adoption agency or lawyer that your mother would have used. They would have the name of the family that your sister went to.
When you do get their name and do not have a current address, The best place to start is to look for her adoptive father. He would have the most likeliest person to NOT have changed him name. Your sister might have gotten married or her adoptive mother might have gotten divorced and re married.

look into a private investagator an if that doesnt work look into a talk show they might be able to help and if your sister records are sealed it is hard also look into grand rapids mi for all the adoption in 1977 and 1978 it might have got finnal in 1978 early just food for thought i dont know what else to say to help but i pray you find her an she wants to be found just becouse you want to find her doesnt mean she wants to be found......................................i was located by my birth mother an father an sibblings an wish i never had found me

have you tried a people search? if you know her full name and her birthdate, you can really break it down and narrow the search.
