I find most American dialects warm and interesting , and yes i can differentiate between some dialects
As with British accents ,some are loud and brash , but mostly, they are warm and mellow and distinctive of their region .
If you like people, you enjoy the variation in accents .
London ---viz--- New York
Essex --Viz -Dallas
Gloucester shire--viz-- Illinois
they may be different
but i love them all
We have only, a small pond, between us, after all

RE:
Do Brits like our American accents as much as we like theirs?
Everyone here in America LOVES British (or Irish) accents. I'm a girl, and to me, nothing is hotter in a guy than a nice British accent. Mmm. But British girls sound so precious and clever too! My question is, do you Brits like American accents? And can you tell the difference between, say, a...

It probably depends on the individual. I love English and Irish Accents. As an American, I also like New York Accents. Never been fond of Southern accents though.

I find some American accents, like in films, comfortable to hear. But when I hear teenage or just generally, young girls speaking with an American accent in a high, whiney pitch, I feel like strapping them to the bonnet of my car, and rolling it off a cliff (probably the white cliffs of Dover, lol)
And yes, I can distinguish between Southern and Northern accents.

Americans have quite distinctive accents, much like the UK. Trouble is what sort of accent from the British Isles is your best? Remember even a differance of a few miles can create a differnt accent pronounciation and dialect. For Instance a London Accent may differ from East End to West End, North and South of the Thames, also differ from suburbian London to differing Home Counties, this in a very small area. It is the same all over.
So 'Yanks' to us do have some strange sounding voices, and sometimes can be quite hard to understand.
The nicest i have heard is the Mid Western style accent, the most annoying Brooklyn.

It depends. Most of us really hate those anonymous over-enthusiastic California accents, but a gentle American accent is OK. The thing with accents is that they automatically draw attention - so whilst an Irish accent in Dublin is nothing special, in the middle of Manchester it seems irresistably sexy because it's different. Same in New York an American accent isn't that hot, but the New York twang overheard in a cafe in London might well raise our interest.
What always amuses me is that what most Americans think of as a "British" accent that they've fallen in love with is a very Home Counties accent with rounded vowels (what most Brits call "posh") and only spoken by about 5% of us. When I went to the US everyone thought I was South African or Australian because I didn't sound anything like what they thought of as a "British" accent!
Maybe it's just because I'm not used to it, but I can distinguish between North and South US accents, and identify a strong Boston, New York or a typical "Hollywood" accent- but in all honesty, I don't think there's anywhere near as much difference between different US accents as there is between different British ones.
