A rephrasing of Markyyy's question...

Hypothetical -

Saving a child from starving. If you save this child from starving, he or she will remain an atheist forever.

Saving the same child from atheism/going to hell. If you convert the child, the child will die from starvation within minutes of his conversion.

Well done. Again a tough choice....saving a child in desperate need of real food, or saving somebody from a fairy-tale..what to do, what to do?

edit: cute how people say they hate "hypos", but allow missionaries to make this exact same choice every day...

Ok, I still fail to see the problem. In your scenario, and I choose the latter again, the child converts i.e. is saved and dies and goes to heaven where death and moth cannot destroy so the child wins. (by the way we do not do it but the spirit in us)

Now, why would this child convert if we just speak the gospel and do nothing for his their present need? Or as James puts it James 2:16
If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? James 2:15-17 (in Context)

So I would put this scenario before you. A Christian sees a child in need next to deaths door and does everything in their power to alleviate the suffering and yet the child is beyond mere food and receives instead the bread of life and will hunger no more.

what a question!!

(my opinion)
if you let the child die....thats no good is it...even if they were converted. You are letting an innocent child die!!!
bad bad bad

I wouldn't let a child die, even if that meant that they would be an atheist forever....

but u no.....something like that will probably ever happen so don;t worry too much about it!

don't live to worry!

What a bunch of humanistic bilge. No one in their right mind lets a child or anyone else starve to death, no matter what their race, color, or creed. (Or lack thereof.) I would feed a starving atheist every bit as fast as I would a Christian, a Jew, a Muslim, or anyone else.

Jesus said that inasmuch as we feed the hungry, clothe those in need, or give something to drink to the thirsty, we've done it to Him. I'll take care of the details that I can handle here on earth, and I'll leave the spiritual end of the business to Him.

You save the child from Hell. If you save the child from hell then they go to Heaven even if they do die. .so why deos dying matter - they get an enternal life with God in Heaven.

Feed the poor kid! Being an atheist is not going to send that child to a different place. Hell does not exist.

I can not save anyone, I am not God.
I can do mission work and raise money to help feed the starving children, and I can answer questions and share my testimony to those who care to listen. What happens after that is up to God.

We should save the child from starving. God has grace enough for atheists.

I said it before
if you save a child from starving, he'll listen to you about God
Jesus fed people too

well...no matter what u do things can change
u may give him food, and after years, he will remember your act of a good christian and become christian, or u may try to save his soul and by his goodness, he will live and receive food from people
what i am trying to say is that one can never know, and u should try to do, if possible, the closest good thing. God will do it all!
