Alright, so I like this guy who goes to my school. I think he likes me too. I haven't told him yet though. I go to a small school by the way.. I'm known as a smart person, and he is more of a slacker...we are complete opposites. And plus, I'm Asian, and he's not. IF we started dating, the people at my school would probably flip out. Should I just forget about this guy? What should I do? I'm scared what others would think...?

I used to go to a small high school (about 60 in my grade) and was known as a smart person (3rd in class rank). I was very self-conscious about what others would think if I was linked with a girl. I never managed a serious boyfriend/girlfriend relationship in high school but word got out about a couple of my crushes, and I was surprised how indifferent people were, and a few were even supportive. I think the ones who were supportive were glad to see that a major geek like me was a regular guy too. Hope this helps.

I would try to find out how he feels, before you tell him how you feel. When you talk to him, read his body language and see what happens. Hanging out with him as a friend is a better way to go than to put yourself out there this early, and it will give him the opportunity to let his feelings known too. Hopefully, it will become obvious for you both. But, do not worry about what others think. Just worry about you and him.

Follow your heart! Never let anybody else's opinions get in your way! If you care about him, then go for it. I have always been known for being a good student- and I had a wonderful relationship for almost a year with an athlete who had a totally different circle of friends than I did. Don't go through life always trying to please everyone else if you are not making yourself happy! Never let stupid drama or stereotypes get in the way of your goals.

You're scared of what others would think, as in your peers, or parents?

So, you're smart, and not confident. Do you have a reason not to be confident? You're smart, so try to get over the irrationality of your lack of confidence, unless you suffer from some anxiety disorder, or have a genuinely valid reason to lack confidence.

Personally I wouldn't want to date someone of another race(but not to be prejeduce; I just think it would be weird) but I also think that if you really like the guy you can give him a chance and ignore the peir presure

I'd go for it if you like him

Good luck!

don't go too fast, as when feelings come like a wind, it recedes quickly too. start from friend and move on gradually, esp. u are studying now. cheers.
