I wear a size 26 and want to know if that is the same size the bridal gown should be? Where can you find plus size brides dresses in the Houston area?

When I got my wedding dress, I bought my regular clothing size and I thought it fit pretty well except the length, which they leave REALLY long in case you are a giant. When I went for the "fitting" they found ALL kinds of things wrong with the fit and several HUNDRED dollars later my dress was ready. On my wedding day, I was like Scarlett O'Hara sucking my happy gut in so my zipper didn't snap. My advice is to get the length right and don't let them talk you into all sorts of alterations you don't need. And, by the way, cheers! And best wishes!

I got my wedding dress a few months ago from David's Bridal. The wedding dresses run smaller. I'm usually a 4 and had to get a 6. I would advise you to just try some dresses on some where. You will never know until you try one on. I know David's Bridal does have plus size dress, but I would recommend not shopping there. I received horrible service. The associates were extremely rude and they ordered the wrong dress. It took 3 months to get the correct dress. From talking to friends who live in other states the service is pretty much the same at all of them...horrible.

it's very rarely the same. I am a size 16-18. I got into one dress that was a 14 and had to try some on in a 20 or 22. It really depends on the designer. I ended up with a jessica mcclintock on an 18. Try David's Bridal, they have them anywhere, or call around to local bridal shops. Alfred Angelo and Edens Bridals both have some gorgeous dresses in plus sizes. Also, take your measurements and shop online. Don't pay any attention to the actual size look a the measurements for the dress. If it's close to yours it should fit with some alterations!
Good Luck!

I live in Washington state so I'm not sure about Houston. I went wedding dress shopping and found that wedding dresses run smaller than most clothing. I normally wear a 4-6 in clothes and in wedding dresses I was wearing a 8-10...even a few were a size 14. So the range was huge.

Good luck in finding a dress. There are some great dresses online as well...the only thing is not being able to try them on.

Unfortunately in the US, the sizes of bridal gowns have European sizes on them. My stepdaughter wears a 14 and her gown is a 16W for her upcoming wedding.
Go to a bridal shop. Be honest and they will accommodate you in finding your gown. She and I went to 3 places before she decided on the one she wanted. She tried on 20+ gowns!
Also, try them on in the late afternoon, when your body is most likely to be swollen. Also, take some water and a snack. This can be an exhausting experience. You want to be very comfortable in your gown on your special day.
Congratulations and best wishes!!

I wore a size 6 at bought a size 10 wedding dress, depending on the designer, but most dress sizes run larger than your actual pant size

Your size depends on the gown manufacturer. Almost all gowns run small so you will most likely need a larger size. Almost all bridal salons can get larger sizes but most don't carry any samples in those sizes.

here is a fool proof way to do it if you are looking into wedding gowns alot of them run smaller but go to a local bridal shop an say you are going to be in a out of town wedding and you need your bridal size to send some places do it for free or they charge 5 dollars for it so even if you are ordering online you can see exactly what you need hope that helps

I am a plus size girl too I bought my dress on ebay. It was gorgeous no one had seen anything like it and it was made to my size. You need to be measured as dresses do not fit the same. My dress came from Hong Kong and it only came to $300 with alterations shipping and a flower girl dress. The sellers name started Gia... but if you put a search for dresses from 1-200 from Hong Kong it will come up. My sis measured me for the dress and had never dome it before just went off of their chart and the dress fit when it got here. Chart is very easy to read. it is thereA300 design but,I didnt like the sleeves and had them taken off.
My dress was made and here in just over 30 days (not business days)and I didn't pay for rush service
Here it is on my space
