I John 5:11-12 "And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." Jesus is quoted in John 15:7 saying, "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you."

Well, you were doing just fine until you got to the "do what it says in the Bible or we burn in the fires of hell" part.

Yes, I believe there is a God Who loves us and watches over those who place their lives into His care. I believe that there is a literal Heaven where the souls of those who are saved by accepting Christ as Savior will go after their deaths.

I also believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is our best source of guidance. I believe that God answers prayers in the way that is best for us, even if we don't understand right now.

However, the reason that people go to Hell has nothing to do with obeying or disobeying the Bible -- at least not in the literal sense. The reason that people go to Hell is because they reject Christ's sacrifice on the Cross and do not repent of their sins and turn to Him for salvation.

Yes, a Christian should follow God's commandments as they are found in Scripture. But rejecting Christ is the ultimate reason why people do not go to Heaven.

What a wordy question! No problem: We'll take it a bit at a time:

*Do you guys belive that GOD is really out there ...?

Yes. Absolutely. All that evidence that the atheists and agnostics keep assuming does not exist is everywhere.

*and watching over us...?

Always. He keeps showing us He's doing it, too... (unless you close your eyes. Or your mind. Or - usually - both.)

*..and there is a heaven ...?

Thankfully, there really is. That's a very good thing...
...for those of us who have applied for citizenship...

*and that the words in the bible are true..?

...And very accurate, yes. It is historically accurate (identifying scads of ancient kings that archaeologists keep finding evidence of), mathematically accurate (there are many who point to a measurement that they claim gives the wrong measure for pi -- They are not very observant, or perhaps missed the part about its rim being like the rim of a cup, like a lily blossom). Additional ways also... other respects of accuracy. Unfortunately I am running out of time for answering questions tonight...

*When we pray he will answer are (I'm sure you meant "our") prayers ...?

He will, yes. He always does. Always.
(Perhaps not the way you wanted/expected...)

*and we should do what it says in the bible or we burn in the fire's of hell? (I'm sure you meant "fires", unless you meant "the fire is of hell"...)

Well, hell was actually made to be somewhere to punish satan and his demons (angels), but those who reject God basicaly have nowhere else to get to... They can't spend their time in God's perfect holiness, so the "outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth" is where they go.

Besides, what God says to do is not exactly torture: As Tony Compolo put it, "The Kingdom of God Is a Party."

So do we really believe all that?

You better believe we believe it.
It's the best news that's ever been given.
("Gospel" means "good news.")

I believe some of that, but not all of it.
The first statement, yes, definitely. The second, also - right up to the word "true".
When we pray, He does not necessarily give us what we ask for, but we enter into a conversation of sorts with HIm, and He can show us just what we should be asking for.
Yes, we should do what the Bible teaches us to do, although in the context of the whole teaching of the Bible. Not taking stuff out of context.
Will we burn in Hell if we don't do something the Bible teaches us to do? If that were the case, everybody would go to Hell. Nobody is righteous, no not one (read Romans 3 to back that up - it's a quote).
That is precisely why Jesus came to die on the cross for our sins, because He knows we are sinners. And He, being righteous, was made sin for us so that we would become in Him the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21).

I do believe that God is real. I believe that He is omniscient (all knowing), omnipresent (present everywhere) and omnipotent (all powerful). I do believe there is a Heaven and a hell. I believe that God does hear our prayers. I believe that the Bible is divinely inspired and that everything in the Bible either teaches a lesson or is a truism. The Bible does not say that all of our prayers will be answered and it doesn't say that any of them will be answered on our schedule.

The source of these beliefs is the most important point upon which to focus. Its one thing to focus on one source and believe by faith, which many people are ok doing. An aspect of believing in God however is understanding, at least as much as is possible, why you believe what you believe. We are capable of thought and logic. If we were created by God then he created us to think. Therefore we should investigate.

If one ponders the possibility that we evolved, then what did we evolve from? Dust? Amino acids? Where did those come from? They just exist? Thats not enough for me. However, it doesn't have to be. We have an historical account of God sending His Son to earth in the anthropomorphic form of Himself. The account is substantiated by other historical documents. So do we take the leap of faith and follow science to believe that we came from nothing or do we take the leap of faith that we were created by God?

We know we're here and we know that there are a lot of questions we have no answer to. What we choose to believe is a personal decision that we must make based upon evidence, logic and emotions. For me, the pieces fit together to believe in God rather than a cosmic accident.

(are you asking this becuase you aren't Christian?)

Yes. That's why we are Christian! coz we believe in God and believe that Jesus Christ was the Messiah and the SOn of God.

God is always watching over us and there is a heaven

The bible is true, but it can be interpreted in many different ways....which can get REALLy confusing...

God hears our prayers, but they are not alwyas answered instantly...sometimes we have to wait...but there is a reason for this...even if we don't always get why

as for the burning in hell part..i believe that if we sin, and we are truly sorry and repent ( say sorry to God and make it up to the person that we sinned against) we will be forgiven, and be spared from hell. but if you aren't sorry, then all the 'repenting' stuff is pointless

hope this helps....

Yes to all but the last question. No one can do all the things as described in the Bible. But, there is a way to get to avoid going to hell and go to Heaven, and that way is through Jesus. The very reason Jesus came to us was to forgive sin The Bible teaches not to sin, and we should try our best to abstain from sin. When we falter we know our sin can be forgiven, forever erased through the sacrifice of Jesus on our behalf. It's through Jesus that our sins are forgiven and we escape going to hell. It's up to us to go to Jesus for this forgiveness and live a life becoming of a person having faith.

of course he exists

not only is he watching over us but he is with us.

have you ever had something happen in your life that only a miracle was the answer?

we believe (well at least i believe) that Jesus(GOD) died on the cross for my sins and rose again on the third day and i have accepted him as my personal savior and because of this i will no go to hell.

as far as doing what the bible says: well that is a reaaly split issue: some people obey everything the bible says while others only the old or new testament.. the bible is a guide for us. B.I.B.L.E;

I'm a christian. I believe in God, I believe that there is a life after this one (heaven or what not). I don't believe every word is true in the Bible since it was not written by God Himself but by people, it is more of a guideline.

You can find the answer to your question in the Bible. If it is truly the Word of God, as it claims to be, God will speak to you through the Scriptures. But you have to read it to get any benefit from the Bible. I would start in John's Gospel.

I can not understand why non believers "always" seem to think that Christians try not to sin because we are afraid we are going to burn in hell. Our faithfulness to God's commands and the guidelines brought to us by the life of Jesus is not to gain Gods love and acceptance. We already have that simply by believing in them. We choose not to sin because we wish to honor God/Jesus with our daily lives not simply in words alone but through our actions as well. Even though you can not possibly understand, we are already greatly blessed by the presence of the Holy Spirit living within us. Even if there were no heaven or hell, it would not matter. Having God present in your life through the spirit is what makes this life worth living.
