wore large phylacteries for show of religion than for true expression (Matt. 23:5)
What are your feelings about wearing a cross?

I am just asking an interesting question that I saw and just wanted to see other thoughts to see if you thought there was a correlation. Question is not a personal attack. When Jesus condemned the Pharisees he was making a point about their hypocrisy

Samething. Is it a fashion statement? Are you trying to be identified with a certain group? Or are you truly expressing what your heart believes.

We wear them on our arms too. But having a larger phylactery wouldn't show you anything about show of religion, even as small as they can be they are still noticeable, so what JC said makes no sense.

I'm not Xtian, but I think wearing a cross is the same as wearing a Magen David. It's not to show how good of a Xtian or Jew or B*ddhist or whatever you are, but to simply define you as a person. Now if that cross is abnormally large and diamond studded like you see some people wearing today...then yes, I think that's wrong. It defeats the whole purpose.

Symbols of faith only bother those bothered by others faith,, why is it your business at all ,,are we or any other persons required to prove we believe by signs or symbols,, NO ,,so why make that a sticking Point,, so what ,,get a life ,,find some peace within ,,so the smallest itty bitty ideas of the system of beliefs that have been added to the red letters in the bible ,, see if your are reading for spite thats what you will find ,,or try this approach it as a child,, for only a child can understand the deeper truths in the bible,, its not written for great scholars,,, just for ordinary folkes,, so be confused by this and suffer in the darkness,, or Pray for Gods Spirit to teach you ,and then open the book ,,see what happens then,,

I feel the same way on the matter as the Church did when she met in the Seventh Ecumenical Council of the Undivided Church in 787 A.D. in the town of Nicea.

Perhaps you might want to read up on a little Church history prior to "proof texting" out of context and comparing apples to oranges.

When I lived in Deal, NJ, why did the younger ones throw their head yamakas in my bushes, and why did the older ones drive WASTED!! to the yesheva across the street from MR. C's and pass out inside 'studying'

and why are their wives so hot?

Good question though, they are too mysterious for me!
