They are two cherubim (the plural of cherub) - Exodus 25:18

And make two cherubim out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover.

Meaning - Exodus 25:22

There, above the cover between the two cherubim that are over the ark of the Testimony, I will meet with you and give you all my commands for the Israelites.

Hello. I believe you are thinking of the CHERUBIM (in the plural form), and in the book of Hebrews it says that the angels desire to look into this thing of salvation which we have available through Jesus Christ and Him only! The cherubim have their wings arched over the ark of the covenant... which is on top of the mercy seat if I'm correct. Now Ezekiel saw seraphim, that is those angels with six wings (two to cover the face, two to cover the feet, and then the last two to fly with). The archangels don't have wings (and they are Michael and Gabriel). The angels of God are around us, especially those sent to watch over the children of God day by day. The ark of the covenant had the tablets of Moses, the manna which fell from heaven, and Aaron's rod that budded I believe. The ark of the covenant back in the time of Moses and the like were a mere copy of the true in heaven(of which it was kept in the Holy of Holies. The true mercy seat where Jesus placed His blood to seal our redemption is in Heaven to remain for all eternity. Hope this helps.

Cherubim is a type of angel with both human-like and animal-like characteristics. Some have human faces, other have animal. They have 2 or 4 wings and are assigned to guard the tree of life in the garden of Eden (Gen. 3:24)

Cherub, plural is cherubim. It means "fiery ones" and also was used to refer to venomous snakes. We have no idea what the image really looked like.
