My belief is that it is time to stop allowing immigrants (legal or illegal) into this country. Back in the 1800's, our government pushed to get as many immigrants into the U.S as possible simply because there was still a whole lot of uncharted and dangerous land to discover. That was when a trip to the pasific ocean from the atlantic meant a harrowing adventure. However, times are different now. We have discovered all there is to discover and we have tamed the wild west. Now we are far too overcrowded to continue allowing more citizens to come into this country. More citizens mean over crowded emergency rooms, less jobs, more traffic, more litter, and more tension. Keep in mind that we have eneough trouble as it is with people refusing to assimilate with our American culture.

My people said the same thing during the 1700s, and look how that turned out. I doubt it would happen.

And how can you discover a place that's already populated? That right there is enough to make me wonder.

No,

I think the US should enforce the law though and modify it also. I think for one to be a citizen of the US they should at least have 1 parent whom is a citizen and not being born in the US should make them a citizen alone or go through the proper government process.

I don't have hatred for the illegals but I hate what is becoming of my home. Education is decreasing because of the language barrier and the no child left behind, medical cost is sky rocketing due to the illegals bombarding the clinics and not paying, sickness and disease has increased due to what they have brought in, wages are lowered because our economy works off of supply and demand and the supply is increasing so quickly of workers that wages are none negotiable, gangs, drugs, and crime has tripled in only 3 years after their arrival, and lastly they are a drain on our government funding. If something isn't done soon, they will become the majority and when that happens the USA will be no more because if they can not run Mexico how can they run the USA????

They are killing the American dream by living 3-4 families in a single household, therefore they can work cheap and split all bills. How can a American compete with this and if an American tried this Social services would arrest us!!!

such a narrow and unjustified argument... with poor grammar and poor spelling. In case you were some how unaware, immigrants are not citizens of the USA when they arrive. It is not until five years of permanent residence in the USA that they gain citizenship. And what about Rupert Murdoch, head of Newscorp, he was Australian...should he have been rejected because he, according to your argument, creates more litter, crowds emergency rooms, creates more traffic and reduces jobs. He owns many media organisations all over the world, FOX is an example that you'd probably be familiar with?

Realize that Mexican and south Americans illegals are only 25% of the total illegals entering the U.S. every year. There are plenty of Haitians, Dominicans, Filipinos, Chinese, Cubans, Europeans, etc. that enter illegally also. But I do agree we need to close the borders for at least 10 years and let the mortality rate help off-set the population.

By "taming the wild west", I assume you mean stealing the land from the Natives.
So YOU'RE here now, and nobody else should be allowed to invade "your" territory? Get a grip, Pal. I have no idea where YOU live, but I assure you that this country is far from being overpopulated. (Ever been to Wyoming, Idaho, South Dakota, Utah?)
As American taxpayers, we shouldn't be forced to support illegal residents. But there are productive people of every culture that are capable of making this country a better place.
OUR culture, BTW, is an assimilation of EVERYone's culture.

I really really wish they would.

When I heard on the news that a gay latino was trying to get political asylum because Mexicans in Mexico discriminate against gays......I decided that things have gone too far.

Next thing you know, overweight people from all over the world will be begging for political asylum, because they are made fun of too much.

That is why we have to keep fighting wars for everyone else, because they don't have to....they just move here to the USA.

The day America shuts it's doors it ceases to be America. E Pluribus Unum, One from Many.
Instead of loosing our Spirit we must instead demand respect from those we welcome here by insisting they follow proper Lawful Procedures.
I would propose that to offer another option besides the rediculously eternal process of citizenship we offer potential immigrants enlistment in our Armed Forces. Once their required tour is fulfilled they could be offered a fast track to citizenship as a reward for service to their new Country.
This would do two things, one it would increase our Military, and decrease Immigration simutaniously.

We should definitely stop accepting citizens. There's simply no need for more immigrants to come to the U.S. We have a stable government and all the citizens we need.

I think anyone who wants to come he should, but LEGALLY and learn English within the first 5 years they are here, if not before. We were founded on immigrants, I just believe that the illegal crap needs to stop.

We should kick illegals out and restrict the number of legal immigrants...in fact some people suggest a 10-year moratorium on immigration, accepting only special cases, and that sounds good to me.

Our sandbox, our rules.
