What suit style and color would work the best for a semi-formal outdoor southern summer wedding in the evening at a B&B?

I was thinking a tan suit rather than a black tuxedo because of the lesser formality, AND I think it would look nice and make him more comfortable since it will be warm. He has told me whatever I want will be perfectly fine with him. He tends to get hot and sweat pretty bad(like a lot of men) in the summertime, so I don't want him to be completely miserable while we're up there saying our vows. Probably not the memory he wants to have for our wedding day... :)

Thanks!

It's not a BBQ. It's at a Bed and Breakfast (B&B).

Ok, I can't get the link to work... but at jcpenney.com, go to the men's suits. There is one called Yves Gerard Linen-Look Suit (even on sale for 149.99!) They have it in a light tan and white, both look great. Even the tie that they show with it is a great color. This would make a great wedding suit, you definitely are wise not to go w/ the typical black tux. Hope this helps, good luck with the wedding plans. Sounds like it will be a beautiful wedding!

Well if I were having an outdoor summer bbq wedding I would not want to be in a suit. Are you wearing a sun dress? You will be comfortable and not hot. How about a long sleeve white shirt for him. The ones you don't have to wear a tie with and a nice pair of slacks.

I saw three answers suggesting linen. That's the worse, though linen is the most commonly worn fabric in the summer.

A linen shirt under the jacket is fine. But seriously not a linen suit. Linen wrinkles the worst in all fabric and your photos will look horrible. You do not want your husband looking all wrinkled in your wedding album.

I recommend you get a suit made in Tropical Merino Cashmere ( like a Super 120). It's a year round fabric that comes in all colours. Most of all the fabric is very light.

You can get tailored suit for your husband to be which will sit much better than linen.

You know if the wedding is going to be semi=formal, you could have him wear a beige linen jacket with a linen shirt with a tie and with dark brown cotton pants. Linen wrinkles but it is a natural fabric and he is likely not to sweat as much. Another idea is a 100% cotton long sleeve chocolate brown shirt, with a nice tie and with a beige vest and beige dress pants. If he doesn't like the vest idea, just the shirt, tie and pants would be considered semi formal. You didn't say what you would be wearing, but possibly a lovely knee length summer cocktail style wedding dress..not to formal looking? Good Luck to you

I don't know about brown-but it's your wedding day, and I don't want to toss out your plans-so you do what you want. I say though-maybe he wouldn't need a top coat-since it's semi-formal, all he would need is a pair of black dress pants. He could wear a nice button up white shirt-plus, it's cooler in the evening-so it could be a long sleeve shirt. A tie could be added if you wanted. Since it's semi-formal, you could work with about any dress shirt! best of luck with everything!!

My husband wore a white long sleeve button up shirt, starched khaki pants, a brown belt & brown cowboy boots. We live in Texas & had semi formal country wedding & it looked really good! I hope this helps! :)

Since it's informal a suit would be fine. I performed a ceremony at a B & B this past Friday night. The guy wore a navy blue suit.

Outdoors, in the south.....it's gonna be hot. It's awfully nice that he has left it up to you, so you are sweet to be considerate of him & not DEMAND that he wear what YOU want.

A sand colored such as this would be good.
