If you could describe your "ideal church" what would it be like?
and what sort of leaders/pastors would you have? What sort of services would there be? How would it outreach to others? What type of music would there be (if any)?

give me a description. I'm interested.

I'm still looking for the "perfect" church.

What I would like to see is a church that is a blend of the conservative and liberal believers.

From the conservative side, a church that really preaches from the Bible. Where a pastor takes a sermon and applies it to the real world in a way that we can apply it to our lives. But it also is one where you want to bring your own BIble, not just have it on overheads or a scriptural reading. But I want a church that really emphasizes how to become a Christian through salvation and this invitation is offered each and every sermon, but more importantly, the church teaches how to build a relationship with Jesus Christ. This church should have classes and mentors available to help others learn more about God.

But, I also would like to see this congregation from the liberal camp, actually implement the teachings of Jesus Christ in our daily lives. Be active in the community and find ways to impact our world.

A perfect church will teach us that each person is blessed with different gifts and talents and how to use these in a way that glorifies God. The perfect church realizes that we need the training and tools to develop these gifts. This congregation should use the philosophy of give a person a fish and he eats for one day, teach a person to fish and he can feed his family. Help a person to establish a fish hatchery and they can employ the entire community. It encourages people that if they have the ability to help others, we use these abilities to glorify God. After all, even a cup of water given in God's name (Mark 9:40-41: 40for whoever is not against us is for us. 41I tell you the truth, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward.).

The perfect church also realizes that dissension is something that God hates, so this church understands that as a body of Christ, we must exemplify walking in love to one another.

As far as worship, I'd prefer a casual church, where a person can come into church wearing clothes they are comfortable wearing. That way, if a person is comfortable in "Sunday best" or bluejeans, they are made to feel welcome. I personally prefer a praise team where songs that minister to people are used.

Also, I'd like a church not only to be family oriented, but accept people who are without partners. Teach people not to judge others, and to allow God to work in other people's lives.

I could go on and on, but to me, Jesus gave the ideal example. He taught using simple parables, walked in love, and taught us to build a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus also was very practical and fed the 5,000.

While there are certain issues I'd also like to see in a perfect Church, these are the key issues. My personal preference is a church that accepts women in ministry, as well as one that shows people how to become victorious in Christ. The holy spirit flows freely and moves on people in ministering to them.

We recently got a new Pastor and I think our church is going in the right direction.

He encourages participation. It is not a one-man show. My Pastor is open to new and innovative ideas and our service is led by the Spirit.

In other words, if he plans a sermon and the Spirit takes over we go with the Spirit so the ideal church would be flexible. We sing contemporary music and some of the old hymns because the church represents many people, different ages etc.

But I want to share one new thing he did today. A wooden cross was made and placed in the Sanctuary. We were asked to write on a piece of paper what we wanted to release to Jesus. The he had us bring him the papers and they were nailed to the Cross. This was very moving. I think we are very close to an ideal church. Ideas for Outreach are just around the corner.

You won't ever find a perfect church, because imperfect people go there. If I could design my ideal, it would probably have Sunday services which start about 1:00 PM since I am not a lark, but an owl, by nature. I like a teacher/pastor with a practical message like Charles Stanley. I'd have a dynamic youth pastor, full of energy and love for young people, a great gymnasium always busy with events. I'd include old hymns with great messages, but I'd love to hear them sung with acoustic guitar, for instance. I don't need all the pomp and circumstance or the suits and ties, but that's just me. Don't have a problem with those who do. I'd have Sunday evening services outside when weather permitted and ask everyone to bring a blanket or a lawn chair. I'd like to reach out to the whole community, especially the homes right around the chuch building. I like to see churches involved with food banks and clothing outreaches. I'd have strategically picked happy people greeting visiitors at the door to make them feel welcome. I'd have comfortable seating, but not so cushy everyone dozes off. A church should be a place to worship and share our hearts and have true fellowship with other believers. The Word of God should never be compromised and should be taught with reverence.

If only I could have my ideal church!! The world would be a happier, clappier place already ^_^
-Firstly they wouldn't discriminate against people who have decided on a magical, witchcraft path. There's nothing wrong with herbs, crystals, and angel magick!
-There would be one guy and one girl reverends. One black, one white. Or something. I dunno. I would LOVE a gay minister, just because it would cut the stereotype into tiny little pieces.
- The services would be more like a club or a coffee morning/afternoon. Sermons would be a max of 15mins long, and there would be beanbags and other comfortable seating. There would be much of the singing (no hymns) and the dancing if possible.
-It's outreach work would be NO outreach unless people want it! Go to the people who need it- the people who have recently lost loved ones, the people who seem tired and weary, NOT the people who don't care and would rather not have my religion forced upon them. In fact, let's not badger them at all!!!
-There would be ALL types of music. One song of each is a decent compromise. A good all over mix will ensure everyone likes something ^_^

Well, I wish it would happen... Christianity is too boring these days! i'm a practicing white witch and I still find sitting and listening to stories about angels or poor people depressing and dull!

Ideal church would first of all have to be friendly to visitors as well as to other in the church. The pastor must have sermons that are relevant to our day to day life and it must be biblical. I love the praise team type of music, but I would also like to sing some of the old hymns from time to time with maybe just a little more up beat tempo.

I would like to see the outreach be centered around missions and that could be right here in my community or across the sea.

I think that a church should be welcoming, when you join a church you should feel wanted, and included. Invite someone new to join a group or organization a church has to offer. I just like to go 2 church and feel as if they are my family, and they are welcoming me to believe the same as them. I would have a fun, but responsible pastor one you could have a conversation with and know he.she understands. Outreach is a big thing, thats how i was saved, the thing was all members were to invite someone new to service and my friend invited me, i have been going ever since. And music should be; inspirational, not slow and boring, up-beat, spirit lifting and just all around good music. try casting crowns hope it helped --Cj

KFC and Churchs are greasy as hell and have more fat than Popeyes. Easy win here. As far as quality, fast food and quality are not spoken in the same word. Think genetically modified, antibiotic infused, gmo rich, tastiness and dont think too hard about it when you eat it. For those that say KFC, i dont know what you have been eating there, but they are the worst of the bunch. Ive never eaten KFC and not felt like **** afterwards. Popeyes spicy strips could end wars if they were given to opposing forces. Yes, they are that good.

One based on the Bible. No segregation, no private interpretation. We all study the Word together and watch it interpret itself. We have people who have been studying the Word a bit longer who help guide those who are new to the Bible, but we're all equal, because that's how God sees us. We all try to do the right thing because we love God, not because we're gonna go to hell if we don't. We have services that respect God, but aren't stuck up. The best way to show God love is to be joyful in His Word, not sit in a bunch of hard pews in uncomfortable clothes. The purpose of trying to get others to come isn't just because we "want" new people. We love others, so we want them to be able to share the joy that we have, so we show them what God says in His Word.
Music? Whatever would give God the glory. Rejoice!

Music a combo of new and old .Open with praise and worship.Close with people praying in the spirit.
Reach others by showing the love of Jesus every where we go.Visit the sick, imprison, feed the hungry, cloth the naked.Be a father to the fatherless.Just as Jesus said to do.
