"Whole grain" simply refers to how the grain in the bread was processed. Whole grains (unlike highly-processed flours) still have their outer covering, which contains the grain's fiber and the majority of its vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
So, for example, whole grain bread may contain one or more of the following grains: oats, amaranth, rye, barley, millet, spelt, rice, quinoa, flaxseed, etc. "Whole wheat" bread is a kind of whole grain bread that contains whole wheat.
It's important to remember that even when a bread says "whole wheat" or "whole grain" it may actually contain only small amounts of whole grain. So it's important to read the label and ingredients carefully. A good whole wheat bread will say "100% whole wheat" on the label, and will list "whole grain wheat flour" as the first ingredient in the ingredients list on the package. It will also typically have 3-5 grams of fiber per slice.
Same goes for "whole grain" breads. Look for "whole wheat flour" as the first ingredient, and 3-5 grams of fiber per slice, as well.
I would recommend going with a 100% whole wheat bread, because they are easier to indentify as true whole grain breads.
So why eat whole wheat/whole grain breads?
100% Whole wheat bread is better for you because it contains more fiber and is more nutritious than white breads. The fiber ensures that the carbs in the bread are digested more slowly, and keeps your blood sugar levels stable. This can help prevent diabetes and maintain better energy levels. It's also more filling, which is helpful when you are trying to control portions. Many people also find it more flavorful, although you sometimes have to get used to the taste of bread that hasn't been stripped of all of its nutrients and natural flavors.
Some good brands include Aunt Millies Organic 100% Whole Wheat (Aunt Millies also makes a great Indian Grain whole wheat version and a flaxseed version) and Brownberry 100% Whole Wheat.

I too have made some changes in my diet.
I eat whole wheat pancakes, rice, bread and pasta...
whole wheat is just that. Whole grain contains many types of grains.... According to the doctor, eating 100% whole wheat is the best for you... good luck

Whole Grain has more and better Complex Carbs then Whole Wheat. Whole Wheat has too many simple Carbs. Stick with the Grain.

whole wheat is a whole grain........ grain is any seed, like wheat, oats, rye, etc. whole grain means they haven't removed the bran (outer covering of the grain) and germ (inner "heart" of the grain) white flour is made by removing the bran & germ, leaving only the starchy part in between, which has the least nutrients.
