That makes me think that it's way too long to read. Sorry. But i'm sure that whatever it has to say it's stupid and not true.

1) We know how the earth got that complex. Through lots of geology.

2) If there wasn't any fresh water, we wouldn't have evolved to depend on it.

3) If the earth wasn't the way it is (hotter, colder etc) we wouldn't have evolved the way we did to fit it.

4) Yep, the brain is complicated. Why would a god design a system where so much can go wrong so easily?

5) Someone doesn't understand the way physical laws work. It's not all chance - far from it.

6) No matter how many fools believe the earth is round, it will never make it so.

7) #5 doesn't appear to be an argument.

8) Harry Potter has as much evidence of magic as the bible does of miracles - it's written down. Sorry, we'll need more proof than that.

Wow, that was easy. So you don't believe now, right? Since those appear to be the best you could come up with, and they were so easy to shoot down.

Okay, I'll go with one of the things there. God made the Earth because it's perfect for hosting life. That's what it says. Now using this for proving your cause right is just plain dumb. Why? Okay. Think. Just because it can support life doesn't mean it MUST be a higher force doing it. When the galaxies were created, some matched the requirements for life, some didn't. This is a random thing. And another thing. It's good for us because it's the right temperature, right gases, etc but this may be fatal for other forms of life.

And think of this. The sun, the thing keeping us all alive is expanding as it ages. That means it's getting bigger and as a result, the earth will be slowly roasted until it is a barren wasteland where nothing can survive. Our time will come when it will be naturally destroyed.

The fact that you use this actually makes me have to wonder about your intelligence or ability to think logically. I'm not meaning this as an insult. I really think this is true of you.

It makes me think that the author is thinking wishfully. First, I didn't read all of it, but I skimmed the "earth is perfect" part. The problem with that is that it's reversing the order of things. We are here because the earth just happened to be perfect for us. The earth was not designed perfect so that humans could live here. Out of all the planets in the universe, one of them had to work out.

Second, this "the world is so complex" argument can be easily countered. This intelligent designer came into existence without the aid of a designer, right? No creator created him/her. So that shows that something pretty complex can come about without a creator, so why not everything else? In fact, the creator has many characteristics that people attribute as being designed by this creator, but how could the designer design him/herself?

In the end, God just doesn't make sense, unless you suspend logic, reason, and the basic laws of nature. This repeated insistence on finding some "explanation" to "prove" God's existence is evidence of desperation in the face of the simple fact that God does not exist.

Honestly. It doesn't make me think anything. These questions are the same ones I've heard before that try to prove that there is a god. Jesus never claimed to be divine. That distinction goes to the Councils of Nicea which voted to give him supernatural status. This is not conjecture. You can simply look it up online or in history books on the subject. Just because the universe is complex beyond our current understanding doesn't mean that there has to be a creator in the sense of a god-figure. I take offense to people's current ideas of god(s) as they are so short-sighted. Why is it so hard for people to come to terms with the idea that there are processes operating in the universe that we don't understand, and may never understand?

It makes me think christians need some new arguments.

1) The fact that our planet supports life does not mean that it is designed for life. Ever considered life was the result of a life-supporting planet, rather than the cause?

2) Argumentum ad populum fallacy. Doesn't mention that all those theists disagree an awful lot.

3) Circular arguing. Starting with a basis that god exists and ending up with the result that god exists

This doesn't move me the slightest. If there was a god would he/she do things this way?. Create a planet, have multiple extinctions then an asteroid to wipe out the dinosaurs then over the course of millions of years where birds then mammals dominated the planet then finally humans. Humans evolved create civilizations then god sends his son to get murdered for the transgressions of others. What a plan. And this is the plan?

I agreed with one statement in her article. When she says that when someone has their mind made up, any evidence can be rationalized or explained away.

But, I am on the other side, anything I have to say will be discarded, or ignored by those people of religion. Just as they feel I do with any "evidence" they present to me.

Other than that, I do not really feel she proved anything.

I can funrish you evidence of the flying spaghetti monster if you want me to write you an article. I have time.

I'm not an atheist, but that article was asinine.

The earth is perfect, so it had to be designed? It's perfect for us because we have survived and thrived here. If there is another life-form that, say, breathes pure helium... then earth would be far from perfect.

The rest of it is in the same vein. If you're going to defend the existance of god, you should use better reasons than these.

Edit: To the Resurrectionist...

I don't usually laugh out loud when I read answers, but yours was pretty damn funny :)

Yes, we have all heard the intellegent design argument. Get something published in a peer reviewed scientific journal and we will have something to talk about. They are always rejected for lack of evidence.

Basically what it says is the universe was too complex to have gotten there on its own so we have to invent something more complex to have made it. Never mind that that would imply something even more complex and then something more complex. The argument isn't logical.

The article seems to be centered on Christianity. You must understand there are numerous religions and many created way before that and after. Whats makes you believe that this religion is the one? If any of it exists?

And here's something else to ponder. If "God' created us all, then why isnt his/her religion that is the first one to be created? Why isnt it the one that is there in the beginning of time, if the world was created.
