Catholics get vasectomys They use Birth Control its a sin only to the Pope and he doesn't know what he's doing Yes I'm a very liberal Catholic By the way I think a priest is online with us tonight His question was very difficult of course it could be a joke from a graduate student in Theology

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
3. Married couples should welcome God's gift of children and, therefore, artificial birth control is against the will of God.
A vasectomy is a form of artificial birth control.

Anything that hinders expansion of the church is a sin for a Catholic. Not having children is not good for growth. Therefore the Catholic church is against it.
I am a Buddhist, and we have no such rule. I am therefore not obligated to have children.

It is a sin for anyone to deny life not just Catholics. Denying life is counter to the intent of God and His creation.

a basic principel of ethics is to do no harm. a vasectomy is a self-imposed mutilation (unlike say corrective surgery), and hence is wrong.
