There's no real Hindi or Hindu equivalent (unlike there is in the other European languages).

But Indians often say the word "John" as "Jaan" or, if they are addressing a visitor named John, they often say: "Jaan Sahib".

Here are the equivalent for "John" in some European languages:
-- "Jean" (French)
-- "Johann" (German)
-- "Jan" (Dutch)
-- "Giovanni (Italian)
-- "Juan" (Spanish) -- "Ivan" (Russian)
-- "Evan" (Welsh)
-- "Sean" (Irish)
-- "Shawn" (variant of "Sean")
-- "Shaun" (variant of "Sean")
-- "Ian" (Scots Gaelic)
-- "Iain" (Scots Gaelic)

Actually, the language is HINDI (not "Hindu"). The Hindi Bible renders John as "Yuhanna" or "Yoohanna".

Cojuda! It is John Lennon, not linen like clothing. Nirvana has always been the hindu place for the "enlightened (whatever that jazz is supposed to be). John simply embraced the religion because the liked for a time. What some really cool news? John Lennon actually turned to Christianity at his home due to a neighbor during his last days. Check it out!
