Help! I'm a hopelessly romantic guy, who dreams of falling in love and staying in love with a girl. It' s just who I am. But there is a problem, you see at the beginning of relationships I always get too emotionally invested, and too clingy and therefore end up driving people away which hurts even more. I want to stop, but I can't and it sickens me. How do I act better around girls, and not be so hopless! I need a lot of help. Please and thank you!

You already know what you are doing to hinder your desire for a lasting relationship. Try not getting "too emotionally invested, and too clingy". Take things slow, sometimes people like a bit of a challenge. I'm not talking mind games and all that b.s. but a bit of a challenge. Give her space. When you start a new relationship, make a bunch of plans to keep busy, visit family, plan a weekly poker night with the guys (gals too). There's no easy answer here. Try dating different types of girls. If you like independent gals, it's pretty obvious they wont dig being smothered.

Remind yourself that most women do not like or respect clinging men. You are going to have to learn self-control. You obviously know what is pushing them away, so break the cycle and get a little self-confidence. When you exude confidence women will find you! Wanting to fall in love is a wonderful dream, but with the right woman ... It will happen, so stop trying so hard. Just be yourself, that is, minus the clingy side. Good luck!

You're going to have the same problem with job interviews. The trick is to not care so much, and really mean it. Girls have their B.S. detectors turned on high, so you can't fake it. Read some philosophy, realize that in the big picture, your wants and desires don't amount to a hill of beans.
It's like in that movie with Richard Geere - Lancelot? Somebody asks Sir Lancelot how they can be as great as he is. And he says,
Well, you've got to get up early every day and practice with your sword and lance . . .
. . . Yeah, I can do that.
You must exercise every day to get strong.
. . . Yeah, I can do that too. Anything else?
Yes. You can't care whether you live or die.
. . . ummmm - let me get back to you on that one, okay?

Okay I wish I had you but I don't so so what you have to do is learn how to take thiongs slow so you will not run these girls away.Do not get so that your feelings get involve because that will make you a nervous wreak oneday.Keep it simple okay.FYI alot of girls do not like many man that may have girl tendacy.Which might I add is kind of a girl trait.

Being romantic is a great qaulity, but you are right, being clingy and being romantic the wrong way will send them running. Slow down with it, the old line is Rome wasn't built in one day, neither is a relationship. If you're with the right person, being romantic comes naturally, remember that.

Start thinking of the relationship as only a friendship. You are only going after them to court and mate with them. That is wrong. You ideal mindset is wrong. Especially if you are unexperienced.

Just take it day by day and at the beginning of each day write on a peice of paper that you promise yourself that you will be calm cool and collected. And if you start to get the feeling that you will do something take a few big breaths and remind yourself of your promise.. I hope it works and goodluck.

I know what you mean. I know being a girl you already get very emotionally attatched but I'm the most hopeless of the romantics. so it can get ugly.

Just relax dude, be yourself. Everything you have heard or read about relationships, just be calm and enjoy the moment and stop thinking about where the relationship is going to and what you two are going to be doing come two years from now and all that. Okay, good luck!

get a part time job as an orderly in a hospital in the obstretics section if possible. watch those gynocologists doing things that will make you lose all that poetry so fast it will make your head spin. digusting. crap and blood and scraming and worse.
