Definitions of faith on the Web:

* religion: a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny; "he lost his faith but not his morality"

* complete confidence in a person or plan etc; "he cherished the faith of a good woman"; "the doctor-patient relationship is based on trust"

* religion: an institution to express belief in a divine power; "he was raised in the Baptist religion"; "a member of his own faith contradicted him"

* loyalty or allegiance to a cause or a person; "keep the faith"; "they broke faith with their investors"

I love how people with faith are put down - told we are stupid and inbred and the like. I believe it is truly scary for an atheist to met someone who knows how to use their brain and still have faith. The only way to reconcile this is to call theists stupid.

Faith is knowing God. Not believing. Actually knowing. It is a Divine gift.

It differs from religion. Religion is man made - a set of traditions etc designed to help people get closer to and celebrate God. Religion is not perfect and is subject to corruption frequently. It is a belief system.

Faith is a belief, trust, or confidence in a person, or God. Faith can be placed in a person, or body of propositions such as a religious creed.

Faith is believing in God even if we do not see Him. Faith may also be your religion. Faith is a gift. It is a gift of God. Knowledge helps our faith.

Faith is also believing in a creed like the Catholic faith which believes in everything that the Catholic Church teaches.

Faith in God means that even if we are in trouble or experiencing difficulties, we know that God will help us overcome our problems.

THIS IS THE BIBLICAL FAITH--very similar to that of PROVEN sciences faith! Excludes evolution and astrology!

(Hebrews 11:1-2) “11 FAITH IS the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld. 2 For by means of this the men of old times had witness borne to them.”

The rest of this chapter in the Bible book of Hebrews describes how men and women showed such faith, in condensed form.

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible....And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. " Hebrews 11: 1-3, and 6

Faith is the evidence of things unseen, the bible says. When Thomas saw Jesus, and actually touched the wounds on Jesus' hands and side, he fell to the ground and worshipped Him, saying "my Lord and my God". Jesus replied, "Thomas, you see and believe, but blessed are they who do not see, and yet believe".

I believe in Jesus and the bible, but my faith is not blind....I have studied the bible for many years. Although God has shown me, in a hundred ways, that my faith is well placed, I couldn't really prove it to you. That is what faith is; believing in that which you cannot see.

No one is really sure, it is the same with the Kingdom of Heaven. The bible never says what these things are, it says (about faith and heaven),"...it is like this..." or, " ...it can be compared to...", but it never says "this is what it is". It's weird how people have so many preconceived ideas about all this.
