Neutering will help lessen his urge to spray, but becuase he has already began to, he may do so again from time to time. As you probably know, male cats spray to mark their territory and they tend to spray on objects they have already sprayed before. So, if you wnat to stop the behavior (and of course you do), you need to do the folowing:
1. Have your male cat neutered.
2. Remove all traces of urine (his) from surfaces in the house. Use a product designed to do just that like "Petzyme" or "Nature's Miracle." These are enzyme based and "eats" the odor and stain of poop and urine. Apply generously. Carpet cleaners will not do the job.
3. Leash train your cat so you can take outside from time to time so that he can have the opportunity to satisfy the psychological urge to mark (spray) his territory. My male cat was neutered after he turned two and after he had begun spraying. I take him out for walks around the yard and sidewalk at night where he sniffs, walks and sprays the plants and tree trunks. Since I have been giving him this opportunity, he has never ever sprayed in the house.

Good luck!

neutering should stop him but you need to clean all those places he has sprayed or he will sniff the pee and go back to them. I found a product that is absolutelly amazing you can get it online at anti-icky-poo.net I have never seen anything remove the odor of cat pee like this and it works instantly.

He may or may not stop. Once they start, they may continue even after being fixed.

Check my questions under my profile and look for Cat Odor eliminator. I posted a recipe that works.
