I have already requested a US passport, but I'm not sure about or how or if I need a visa and where to get one. Also, what about my dogs entering into Canada, other than their shots do I need anything else. Thanks. Jerry

You cannot just up and move from the U.S. to Canada without first going through the Immigration Process, unless you already have status (i.e. citizenship, permanent residency, student or work visa) in Canada.

As far as your dog, you just need proof of rabies vaccination. Any additional medical information you have might as well be carried too, but in my experience they only ask about rabies.

Go to the Official Canadian Immigration website and read up on what you need to do. All the information, application forms, and instructions are there and very clearly written and organized. The Immigration Process will cost around $1,200 and take 1-3+ years, depending on the class of immigration.

I don't know about you, but your dogs need certificates of current vaccinations, specially rabies. And a letter from a vet stating they are free of disease. Most times you won't be asked for all of it, except the rabies. But you better have it with you, just in case.

Hi, Jerry. This is the best that I could find... but it does provide some good links and a list of mandatory documents.

Best Wishes, and welcome to Canada. ~ Andrea
