pros some people find it attractive and you may like they way you look with it pierced

Cons you may haet it and you have permanent scar...also lip and tongue are very dangerous to pierce, if you dont clean very well you risk major infection, and your mouth is one of the easiest as well as worst places to get an infection

Pro's none that I can think of.

Con's....
1) you will have a hole in your lip that will be there forever (even if it closes, it will scar)
2) possible infection
3) you will look different and probably get small children and less open minded people staring at you.
4) you won't meet dress code for some business
5) speech impediment

I know more about the tongue peircing, leaves you open for infection as it does not close, and people break their teeth on them. Lip peircing just looks like you might catch it when you dress and undress. Not my generation, but i bet you increase your chances for the infection in the blood stream as with the tongue.

well, i mean, obviously, it'll hurt to get it
and there's a possibility of getting infected
and, pro? it'll look amazing if you get it done right and wear the right ring or stud

use a needle, NOT a gun when you get it done
guns are hard to clean and often infect people who use them
people who use guns to pierce are often unexperienced
and they will use the wrong backing
which includes every problem from falling out to infection to getting stuck

go to a hardcore piercing place,
the kind of place where people go to get all sorts of crazy piercings
they know what to do
don't don't DON'T go to the mall etc.

i just got my nose done, but my lip was done a few months back

I only have pierced ears and wouldn't dream of piercing anything else, so the only "pro" I could even begin to come up with would be to aggravate your parents or to impress/fit in better with your friends.

As for cons, I can think of several, including aggravating your parents--yep, that one can be on both sides of the equation. Others include:
1. Infections - Even with pierced ears, it is easy for them to get infected. I had friends in college who did not keep their ears clean enough or who used cheap (i.e. one that did not have gold posts). It took a long time for their ears to clear up. They really looked ugly, but my friends could cover their ears with their hair, which would not be possible with a lip piercing. I would think that a lip piercing would be even more inclined to come in contact with germs than ears, so they would probably be even more inclined to get infected.

2. Tears - I know of two people whose ear lobes ended up torn by heavy earrings. They needed plastic surgery to get their ears repaired (and it wasn't covered by insurance). If you caught the earring on your lip (or if someone grabbed it), you could end up having a nasty tear that could detract from your looks.

3. Permanent scarring - If later in life you decide you don't want to wear anything in your lip piercing, the scar caused by the piercing may show.

4. Social outcast - Not everyone (and not most parents) like facial and other obvious piercings. It could lose you some potential friends because we are often judged by first impressions. It could also cause some parents to forbid their children from hanging out with you.

5. It could cost you a job. Since the general public is not wild about facial piercings, you might lose out on a job when you are in competition with someone who has no piercings. I had a co-worker who always wore long-sleeved shirts even in California's summers. Later I found out that he wore them (and even a cover-up make-up) to hide a tattoo he had gotten in the navy. He ended up spending lots of money to have it removed.

The lip ring/stud will rub against your teeth and over time will erode the tooth structure away - meaning costly dental work to restore what has been worn away

if you're still in school, you're teachers will be mad, but they can't do anything about it unless it's in the dress code. It could get infected, you'll look really cool and of course, what would your parents say? You do whatever you want. Hope this helps!

Pros? None.

Cons? Infection and you will look like common trash.
