Just to look around and see if there is a god and what he is like etc.

Amalthea, i have always wondered about that phrase "god will take me when he chooses"

What if some mugger shoots you in the head?

Are you claiming god put you in that location to get killed? Is the mugger acting on gods will to kill you? Is the mugger god?

How does that work?

Nicole, are you equating visiting god to being like wormfood?

I can see why a theist would wanna see god (hell, i wouldnt mind that one) but a atheist sees nothing to look forward to at death, theists do.

I would like to be dead for 20 mins, but not for that reason - I just think it would be an experience (presuming they would bring me back to life without damage). But, I would do it just a bit later in my life, just in case...

Yes. I'm religious and believe in God(s) and the afterlife... but I want the complete truth, whether that means I'm right or wrong. I have very strong beliefs because of certain experiences I've had, but still - truth is better than comfort... And there are so many people, theist and atheist, who believe what they do because of comfort.

Theists sometimes believe in God because they like the idea of something all-knowing looking down on and caring for us; Atheists sometimes believe there is no God because if there was, that would mean that there are so many things we don't know, so many things that we can't control or measure scientifically - and I understand how that could be disconcerting,

So yes... if I could come back, I would definitly want to have that experience.

Why? God will take me when He chooses. I have no business going there uninvited. And I don't need to take a look around to know He's there.

P.S. Gee, I'd rather NOT get shot in the head by a mugger. But if it happens, I'm confident that the Lord will receive me. I wouldn't be the first Christian to enter heaven through a violent act.

A Athiest has said in his heart their is no god the bible says this no matter the proof they willnot believe lets suppose they died and did see God theyd claim it was nothing but a dream or a illusion caused by their near death

Why? Would you?

I really have no desire to go prove God to myself.

Though I suppose for some, seeing is believing. But I think there would be some who even after meeting God, would deny God.

So your theology is defined by Hollywood? You're taking movies too seriously

I don't have to have a sneak preview to "see" if there's a God, I already met Him!
