Save a life and adopt. Shelter cats need a home more than breeders and pet stores need your money.
Good luck!

Check with your local humane society or animal shelter; if you want a specific breed, I suggest going to the Cat Fancier's of America web site to locate a breeder.

You should generally get a kitten that is at least 3 months old; 2 months is just barely old enough to leave its mother, and 1 month is 'way early.

Go to the humane society. You can get them for free at most places, and they're usually a lot healthier then purebreds that you find at a store.

And 3 months is about as young as is good for the kitten. We got ours the day she hit 3 months from a friend whose cat had had kittens. she is now 11 ( on st patties day, accually) and doing just fine.

Like there is a shortage? Season for all those unspayed and neutered cats is coming fast and there will be a surplus awaiting execution at your local animal control & humane society. Go there and pick & choose. They only charge you for the shots and the spay, neuter.
