I have a problem I found a stray cat an he’s very friendly, but I just noticed that the side of his paw is bleeding, not the nail but a little to the top and to the side. He let me clean it up but now he wont let me touch it. every time my hand gets near it he backs it up and sits on his paw. All the clinics are closed, and its not an emergency, I'm going tomorrow to the clinic but for now I have no idea what to do. Please help me.

You did well cleaning it up. Don't worry, it will keep til tomorrow for the vet visit. And it is soooo good of you to care for this stray. The paw may be hurting that's why kitty is hiding it underneath his body. Just provide food and water for him and lallow him to "nurse" his paw himself for now He'll be OK.

You need to get yourself a bottle of Witch Hazel from the pharmacy section of any store. Put some in a little bowl on a table so you do not have to bend down after picking up the cat. When you have him tenderly in your arms, stick his paw in the bowl before he realizes what you are doing. This a common bacterial agent that is user friendly with humans and animals. He may run and hide afterwards for awhile, but he will soon realize that you have not hurt him and he will come back out. It does not sting. If you can do this several times til you can get him to a vet, it will help any infection he might have. It may even clear up any infection without him seeing a vet also, but you must do it at least three times a day for five days, or until you are absolutely sure he will be fine.

It seems as if you've done all that you can do thus far. you made a good decision to take him to the clinic tomorrow, and until then, just try to keep an eye on it. Make sure that he doesn't lick it a whole lot- since he wont let you touch it, just distract him if he starts doing it. More than likely, it will just be a laceration that can be easily dressed and fixed. Just get him to the vet tomorrow and you'll know you've done a good thing rescuing and taking care of him :)

As long as it is not a gaping wound, you probably don't even need to take him to the vet.
My cat is a scrapper and he, more often than not, comes home bleeding.
I clean out his wound twice daily with hydrogen peroxide and after I clean them, I put some Neosporin on it.
If you want to get near him to take a closer look, try petting him between his shoulder blades or grabbing him by his scruff (like mum does when they're kits)

He'll be fine until you take him to the vet tomorrow, but I'm sure his paw is still sore. Make sure he has something warm and soft to sleep on tonight so he's comfortable.

since its a stray you should take it to the vet to check his paw and a regular checkup to see if he is healthy also maybe get a blood test and if your going to keep him he should get neutered and get his shots.
