i bought this astra 300 off a guy because it has somthing unusual on it..on the left side, are the words politi then some kind of a seal thenit has... Nr.5758...

it was put on after the gun was made..i think

can some one point me in the right direction to find out what it is and if this makes the gun a rarity

Sounds like a surplus police issue. It is not uncommon for other countries to sell off surplus such as Star, Astra, Norinco, as well as many others. I can't remember for sure but I think Astra is from Japan.

It should look like the photos on GunsWorld.com . Made in Spain. It was issued to the German Luftwaffe if it has the official WaA mark, which would increase its value. The Deactivated-guns webpage is sort of fluttery in my Firefox browser, but you should be able to see the markings.
