A Witness that answered my last question said ...

"the questioner "worships" Jesus, JWs "worship" Jesus (in a manner acceptable to God the Father), and thus the questioner believes Jehovah's Witnesses aren't Christian."

Could someone please enlighten me as to how Jesus is worshipped so that I can come to the conclusion that Jesus is worshipped and making you Christians?

Again...seeking to understand.

So sorry to confuse you. The question is.... How do Jehovah's Witnesses worship Jesus Christ our Savior?

2007-03-11 14:35:46 · update #1

Is it possible to worship by "giving thanks"? Don't you give thanks to your parents for birth?

Ah there's achtung... be patient, I have a response.

achtung - You also said in the previous question that "Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe!"

****"Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe!"***** Wow, so He created the universe with his hands as the master worker, and He is not God, eh? God is the only creator.

I do every single thing for Jesus that you mentioned, and yes, I happen to be preaching at this very moment.

However, Jesus is God the Creator made flesh, which is why you see plenty of verses about him being worshipped by both people and angels...and of him even REQUESTING worship by saying "All Hail"

"And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him"

guajira... your bible is only 125 yrs old and was interpreted by a man named Charles Taze Russell that idolatrized pyramids - his gravesite is even a pyramid- and he taught several prophecies that did not come true. The bible teaches us that false prophecies are to be avoided, as they are of satan's trickery.

limemountain - good site!

A quote from the watchtower:
"From time to time, there have arisen from among the ranks of Jehovah's people those, who, like the original Satan, have adopted an independent, faultfinding attitude...They say that it is sufficient to read the Bible exclusively, either alone or in small groups at home. But, strangely, through such ‘Bible reading,' they have reverted right back to the apostate doctrines that commentaries by Christendom's clergy were teaching 100 years ago..." If you disrespect Witnesses as much as you seem to, reading these answers is a waste of everyones time.

I'm not a Witness (yet), but I know that Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians. They rejected the Trinity more than 100 years ago, but like 50 years ago they started to use the word 'worship' only for God because of the whole "eclusive devotion" thing. Its not superstitious, they just want a constant reminder that worshipping God is different from worshipping Jesus.

The bible proof is overwhelming that God did not create the universe alone. Don't embariss yourself by getting into a bible argument with Jehovah's Witnesses.

I don't see any of these Witness answers saying you dont worship Jesus, and you seem kinda paranoid when you imply that.

Jesus isn't God. Jesus is God's only-begoten son.

People like you always pretend that Witnesses have a special 'book of Witness' like a 'book of mormon'. They dont. Every Witness preacher I ever met uses any bible anyone puts in his hand. Even Witness kids know the bible. About 50 years ago the Witnesses came out with a bible that uses the name Jehovah. If another bible did that, I bet they never would have bothered.

Who cares about Russel? He wrote lots of wrong things and the wrong things he wrote were corrected. I do know that Russel always said he wasnt writing prophecy, so if you are pretending he was writing prophecy than you are a liar.

About that Watchtower quote. Witnesses teach that you need to pray, read the bible, and witness. Just reading the bible isnt enough. Why is that confusing?

I read the question at that link, and I didn't see anything inconsistent.

First of all Colossians 1:15-17 "He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God the firstborn of all creation"
John 3:16 "God loved the word so much that he gave his only begotten son in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destryed but have everlating life". This scripture is used to much as in sports, but if you really meditate on the meaning it helps to see the importance of having faith in Jesus.
Also....
Romans 6:23 "the gift god gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord"
there ar many many scriptures that show how important it is to have faith in Jesus!!
Also important is that even Jesus noted the importants of rendering sacred service to Jehovah God. When tempted by the Devil he replied...
Luke 4:8 "It is written, it is Jehovah your God you must worship, and to him alone you must render sacred service"
When men tried to bow down to Jesus, he would not let them since it is Jehovah God alone that they were to bow down to.
Mark 10:17,18 "Nobody is good, except one, God"
As one of Jehovah's Witnesses I can say that not only do we value and appreciate what Jesus did for us but we also relize what he is doing now, and how important his roel is "at the right hand of God". We also try to follow his example buy placing the imprtance on Jehovah God our Father in Heaven. I strongly suggest that you look into your own personal copy of the Bible and read thies scriptures yourself. Most translations have taken out Gods name and Even state that in the preface of the Bible! Psalms 83:18

Jehovah's Witnesses "honor" or "do obeisance to" (or "worship", when the term is defined biblically) their Lord Jesus Christ when they imitate his godly example.

(Philippians 2:10-11) ...in the name of Jesus every knee should bend...and every tongue should openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

Another way that Jehovah's Witnesses "honor" or "do obeisance to" (or "worship", when the term is defined biblically) their Lord Jesus Christ is in offering every prayer in the name of Jesus.

(John 14:6) Jesus said... “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

A third way that Jehovah's Witnesses "honor" or "do obeisance to" (or "worship", when the term is defined biblically) their Lord Jesus Christ is in progressing to dedication and baptism as Christians in Christ's name.

(Acts 2:38) Repent, and let each one of YOU be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ

However, Jehovah's Witnesses are perhaps most unique among self-described Christians in the way in which they "honor" or "do obeisance to" (or "worship", when the term is defined biblically) their Lord Jesus Christ by actually OBEYING the explicit command of Christ Jesus to preach the good news in "twos" and from door to door.

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them

(Luke 10:1,2,16) [Jesus] sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest. ...He that listens to you listens to me too. And he that disregards you disregards me too. Moreover, he that disregards me disregards also him that sent me forth.”

If this questioner has multiple questions to ask, she should ask them as multiple questions.
