Yes, I agree. I think women who get all bent out of shape about men not putting the toilet seat down are silly.
I was very close to falling in once- I accepted full responsiblity for it (it was early in the morning and I was really tired, so I wasn't paying attention). I'll definately always look before sitting.
And regarding the above comments about getting our hands dirty if we put the seat down....if you always wash your hands before leaving the bathroom, there is no need to worry about germs (I use a clean piece of toilet paper to move the seat, if needed). Happy peeing everyone!

Why on earth might all people no longer positioned the lid down while he's achieved utilising the lavatory? Do human beings savor the sight of the interior a rest room? Does the assumption excite them that maybe some thing could roll from the counter and into the bowl and that they are going to could desire to retrieve it? men and ladies all people is the two at fault for no longer putting down the seat AND lid!

What's all this deal about the toilet seat being up or down. Let the last person deal with it. If a man pees, he should lift it up before peeing and leave it up. When a woman follows after, she should put it down to pee and leave it down for the next man or woman to deal with the seat. Why should the man have to do the extra work of putting it down for the women?

You lifted it..you lower it back down to the toilet rim. Why should I have to touch the toilet seat? It was down to begin with...put it back where it was. I hate touching toilet seats. It's gross. Not to mention men are the ones who usually mess up the toilet. Why would I want to touch that? Be reasonable is what I say.

I don't know about the other women here but I will speak for myself. Men don't know this and other people may not know this but I'm a clean person & when a man keeps a toilet seat up and urinates on it, the toilet seat already has bacterias on it but when a man does that, it increases the percentage of bacteria and when a woman sits on it (and uses the bathroom on it), she gets a bladder infection, Urinary Tract Infection, or a yeast infection (and other infections). Yes, she can lower it down when she goes but it's the principle of the man to do it and sometimes women don't know that a man has lifted it up.
I know, too much information but that's the reason it's such a big deal for guys to put the toilet seat down.
BTW: When women catch these infections, they wouldn't be able to have sex for weeks and wouldn't that be bad for you guys? So, a word of advice, listen to your wife or girlfriend next time for your benefit!

I've never really gotten that either....Falling in isn't really a good excuse, because shouldn't you look at a toilet before you sit on it? I mean, seriously, anything could be on the seat.

This is nothing more than a reason for women to b*tch about something a man can do (pee standing up) that they can't. I, for one, have NEVER crapped on the lid or fallen into the toilet. Are women just too damn dumb to check the lid/seat status before they sit?

I agree 100% - if you're not paralyzed, you can put the seat down! And if you fall in the bowl it's your own fault for not looking before you sit!!!

In my whole life I have taken millions of sit downs in the the "throne room". Never sat down on the bare rim.

Don't want to say anything chauvinistic so I am pretty much required to stop here.

It's polite not only to put the seat down, but the lid as well.
