I worked with a wise woman who turned me onto a different aspect of parenting.
She told me when her kids got out of control she cleaned there room completely out. All of there personal possesions were taken. All the way down to there clothes, blankets, pillows, bath soap, towels to dry off, bed sheets, underwear, and shampoo. Everything!! Except what they were currently wearing.
She then explained to me that they had a chance everyday to earn one thing back by being respectful to her and her husband. I will do the same if my daughters pull that. Let me tell you something, you start taking things away, they change there attitude.
When I say take away, I mean lock up at a mini storage, not put in the garage. Try it. Good luck.

I have 3 daughters and a son, they have all tried to test the water to see who is tough. It's a right of passage that I was more than happy to deny them access to. It isn't a stage it is disrespect. You're going to have to show her who is in charge before you lose control all together. People make parenting sound so hard and nearly impossible. If you would stop playing the "we're equals" game all the time and become an adult it is actually pretty easy. Everyone just wants the quick fix or somebody to say it'll be ok.

um yes it is out of control and if u are the mother and care you would teach her a lesson and everytime she does that you can wash her mouth out with soap or ground her! Dont give into her! No matter what it takes you need to win the battle in this case.

Little of both. It is a stage, and a long one, unfortunately - welcome to life with a teenager. However, she still needs to be respectful of her mother. I'm sorry I have no suggestions but I have not yet figured out how to get through to a teenager. Good luck with that!
