I have a 1993 toyota camry that vibrates alot when I am at a stop light/sign. I took it to the dealership and the mechanic told me that the balance shaft inside the cam is damaged but I can put the car in neutral to stop the vibration. He also told me that I can go another 100,000miles like that. Is this true? I also called another toyota dealership and he said that it would cost a couple of thousands of dollars to repair and it is not worth it because my car is so old. He told me that my engine will go soon. Is this true? Both dealerships answers are conflicting. I am really trying to avoid a car payment.

Dude the vibration goes away in Neutral ? Is it an Automatic Transmission Camry.?
If you answer yes to both questions, It's NOT your Balance shafts or camshaft. It's a transmission Touque Convertor problem. Take it to a transmission shop and get it fixed.
Very common problem for older Toyota's
I repair quite a few of those exact complaints and a new torque convertor fixes it, but some require a complete transmission overhaul along with a new torque convertor replacement. So go to a good trans shop and get it diagnosed and repaired
