I am having bunion surgery on Friday and I am very nervous about it. Can someone tell me about there surgery and the recovery and if it is worth it.

Bunion surgery is a very safe, very effective surgery when done properly. There are many different approaches for the surgery which all depend on the type of deformity that you specifically have.

Hopefully you are going to a podiatric physician, the experts in foot and ankle surgery.

Recovery is based on the specific type of procedure chosen by your doctor. But you will probably be off you feet completely for anywhere between a couple days to a few weeks. The pain will most likely be manageable the day of surgery with Tylenol with codeine. After you get clearance from your doctor you will be able to do all of your normal activities again, hopefully without foot pain.

Good luck.

I had bunion surgery and a sesamoid bone removed on Feb 1st. I went back to work today and actually did very well. I am still in a Camboot but that will leave as soon as I can find a shoe that is comfortable enough to wear. The incision still rubs against the shoe and hurts.

The surgery was done on OP basis. I was off my foot for two weeks. You go home in a walking shoe. GET CRUTCHES. Going to the potty will be a lot easier those first two weeks. Cut one side out of a box and put it under your cover at the bottom of your bed to keep the cover from touching your foot. OUCH. I learned that tip too late.

Good luck!!
