The B-complex vitamins are actually a group of eight vitamins, which include:

thiamine (B1)
riboflavin (B2)
niacin (B3)
pantothenic acid (B5)
pyridoxine (B6)
cyanocobalamin (B12)
folic acid
biotin
These vitamins are essential for:

Many B vits. folic acid is B-9, good for brain, helps prevent neuro/spinal birth defects, b-12 good for nerve functions and energy, a couple of decades ago, many people would go to doctor for injection of it as a fad, must have intrinsic factor in stomach in order for body to absorp and use b-12. B vits are water soluble vits. Not supposed to be able to over dose on them from what i've heard. The fat soluble vits, meaning they are stored in your fats are vit A,DEK. Can overdose on these. I think the vit A is good for skin, E probably too.

They play a major role in the activities of enzymes and other proteins that regulate chemical reactions in the body. B vitamins are also important in helping of the breakdown of food into energy and other simpler chemicals that are absorbed and needed in the body.
