Build on what the two of you hold in common.
Catholics already believe they are Christians (that's what they are taught from a young age).

Read Acts 17:22-34 and see if you can draw some parallels.
Read 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 for the method of the Apostle Paul's ministry.
Great Stuff !

Most non-Catholic Christian denominations accept Catholics as Christians. A very few do not.

A dictionary would say that a Christian is someone professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.

Catholics would fit this definition.

In the Nicene creed, from 325 A.D., Catholics profess:

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father.

Through Him all things were made.

For us and our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried.

On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures: He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We are baptized as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19, "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

We truly are spiritually "born again," we just don't usually use those words.

With love in Christ.

I think he's Evangelical, or Free Will Baptist or something. They take a pretty narrow view of "Christian".

It's like this: Evangelicals are milk chocolate, while Catholics are dark chocolate, which we all know is sinful, because they lack the milky goodness of Christ.

Catholics are Christians. They practically started it. It is mighty presumptuous of you to think otherwise.

Look, I measure 'crazy' on a sliding scale. FIRM belief in anything so intangible as God puts you somewhere on that scale. Believing that other religions are invalid because yours is better moves you over to the right. Believing that all others within your religion - who's views might vary slightly from yours - are going to hell puts you firmly in the Crazy category.

So, either you are crazy, or a fool. Which is it?

Ok. I am not a Christian, but I am so tired of seeing this sort of mistake by those of you who are. Catholics believe in Christ. They are Christians. Just because they are not evangelical Protestants does not disqualify them from sharing your belief in the Bible or in Christ. Dumb-***.

Tell the Catholic that Christ was a Jew that followed no religion and that means Christianity also! It's your PERSONAL relationship with God that Christ taught.

He's already there - born again in the waters of Holy Baptism - a Sacrament that Jesus Christ Himself ordained for all Christians...

"Born again...."by water" and the Spirit" - John Chapter 3

Jesus already washed him and made him a part of the Body of Christ. You're a bit late, my confused friend.

You must be a neo-fascist protestant. The advice I would give you is to realize that you are fallible and only Christ is perfect. The Earth is not flat and just because you believe in something does not make it true. See if that works, it works for me.

Drive him to the nearest Catholic church for Mass and have him listen to the Word of God and receive the Holy Eucharist. Mass is held on a daily basis at every catholic church, so you can do it tomorrow.
