That day will come. ( Like vietnam ) The losing American troops will have a thousand yard stare and have a look of shame all over their body language. They will eat crow everyday as the anti war people ( Like me ) say "I told you so". However, I will be nice to the losing troops. I will offer to heat up their crow sandwich.

Note: I once believed in the USA Government. I ended up walking in shame back in 1975. I also hated crow sandwiches....but I had to eat them. The hippies were correct about the Vietnam war. I was the one wrong. But I learned fast. I am now anti war. Jane Fonda!! We need your voice once again!!

A couple of questions to you before answering your question. What did you have to be ashamed about? Your "Like me" says you were ashamed of something. Ashamed about the military of which you were a part of ashamed of a bunch of democrats who caused you to be part of a military which could not win? I, also was there and was too ashamed, however was proud of my unit and what we had tried to accomplish even against all odds which our politicians put in our way. I was ashamed of the way the people receiving us returning GI,s. However I was not ashamed of my group. The did their best, they did not lose the war. It was lost in Washington by politicians. If our military loses, if you will, in Iraq. It will not be because they lost militarily. It will be the jerks in Washington. I refuse to, as you say, eat crow. I would advise any soldier returning from Iraq to refuse to do so too.
They, those who are fighting in Iraq have nothing to be ashamed about. The rules of engagement in Iraq just as those in Vietnam, prevent them from doing what they are trained and good at. They are not trained enough to be peace keepers. They are trained as you were, to fight, kill the enemy however were prevented from doing so.
It's like the Boxer who trains and trains to KO his opponent, however when in the ring is told not to hit his opponent unless he is struck first, and only if it hurts. Smile
Peace with you brother,

You need to get serious about the consequences, instead of planning for how you might gloat. Bottom line - do you want to defeat the terrorists or not? That's really not clear from your question.

Our media in the US is also anti-war and together, your terrible alliance of the misguided is bringing about a culture that is making it impossible for the US to unleash the full power of our military.

It is sick if you are a US citizen and see this as some kind of "bet" with some eating crow. God help you if the US is attacked again like on 9/11. If you're lucky, some of members if the so called "losing American troops" will save your hide.

Why would you feel shame? You did not choose to go to Vietnam, your government sent you there, just as these young people were sent to Iraq. Would you rather have those troops all be tried for treason? You know better than many, that the troops go where they are sent, right or wrong, you don't make that decision. No shame, you did your duty as was called for & many Americans respect you for it; as we will respect those returning from Iraq; another stupid action called for by our President!
Are you speaking of the same Jane Fonda that went to Hanoi & interviewed American POWs? Men who were given a script to read to the news people that went with Hanoi Jane? Jane, the traitor to her country men? The one who rallied people to call the returning troops "Baby Killers" & spat on them? If you need that freak, you are in big trouble!
Don't worry, she will be there, hope she doesn't call you any names or have anyone spit on you as is her practice!

You Ignorant Fool
Look at it this way, If you see sombody getting beat up in the street (Iraq) by someone bigger and much meaner than itself (Al-qaeda) You would stop and help right? (okay maby you wouldnt, but most people would) and then when the bad guy is gone, you would stay and help them right? (again maby not you...) Thats what we're doing in Iraq, and you know what? You are doing exactly what the hippies did to you. Is that empowering? does that make you feel good? Dishing out what was givin to you? Maby you should think. and just remeber the only reason you are able to say these things is because of soldiers who dont whine to everybody when they get the chance. you remember that when you and your buddys go and put on your anti-war shirts.

It seems if you were really in Vietnam you would understand the troops are doing their job they don't need to be looked down upon for anything and I seriously doubt the way you Q is worded -that you are even American anyway if you know about Nam you know that Dem Congress stopped the funds to support our troops there for we had no choice but to pull out.

no i will not "feel sorry" for these gi's, the ones that return alive whether or not there is a "win or loss", should be greeted in full glory and thanked every day for their bravery and heroism, by giving of their time and their lives to help keep our country and our freedoms for everyone who lives here to enjoy and revel in every day.in my opinion the whole war thing for both sides is an absolute loss because our country and the other country are both losing valuable human life and lifestyles...imagine having to live in a place where all there is is war and bombs and people dodging bullets and explosions everywhere all day and all night..and it sounds like you lived thru some of it in viet nam,so you know..don't you. and yes i also am against the war, and i wouldn't wouldn't serve in the armed forces, but my family members have and my husband has, and i know how horrible it was for me here to be alone without them during that time they were elisted. so everyone suffers to some degree or the other. but to answer the rest of your question, the ones i feel sorry for are the family members of the the brave ones who lost their lives trying to do their job, their duty in the service, because these are the brave ones, the ones that will be remembered for their heroism.the family's are the ones who are really suffering having to bury their loved ones, children growing up without fathers or mothers, wives without husbands to grow old with and share grandchildren with,, you see where i'm going with this. i hope this answers your question to some extent of satisfaction for you. thank you for giving me the opportunity of answering.

All I have to say is F*CK YOU. My husband and his men will never come home with their heads heald in shame! The war is not their fault, there for they have nothing to be ashamed of! I have wasted my time writing these words alone, but I will finish with one last thing: Anyone who treats the troops as though it is their fault needs to be shot or sent to a country with a dictator.

No nation is right all of the time. We weren't wrong in Vietnam. We were beaten though. I did two tours though.
This war is a farce, it was launched to raise the price of a barrel of oil.
I feel sorry for the dead and wounded, but hopefully the military will learn from this war. It's obvious they learned nothing from Vietnam

first of all...the military does what it is told...so I think your confusing political strategies with our military might...our military hasn't lost any war...however...our government has lost a lot of agendas by using lame strategies... I personally dont think any political war can be won... and I personally dont think any military in the world is capable of beating, so to speak, our military....our military would have nothing to be ashamed of...however... you, should be ashamed of the way you asked this question...especially if your an American...If your a Rag head..then i could give a flying bleep what you say...further more...if I ever catch you on the streets...I will unscrew your head and **** down your throat...then you will know what shame is, you spineless coward

You're the LOSER! WHINE WHINE WHINE!! What happened? Weren't you physically or mentally qualified to join the REAL men and women of America?
Our troops did NOT lose in the Viet Nam war! Our POLITICIANS lost in Viet Nam. Our troops will NOT lose in Iraq. You haven't a CLUE as to what's going on over there. Typical of you whiny a.s.s. know nothings. You don't have the cajones to walk up to a REAL MAN/WOMAN in the military and call him/her a LOSER.
If you look up to Jane the Hanoi Whore Fonda, you're not even worth the trouble for ME to spit on YOU. She should have been shot as a traitor, but the line would have been to long with volunteers to do the job.
Now, be a good boy and go play with your Barbie dolls.
