OR

I should just ask someone back home in india to create another copy of marriage certificate in native language

OR

I Should get a letter from Counslate of Gerneal of India san fransico california stating that this piece of document which is marriage certificate is original and in english language.

Call up ICE and shout "The original IS in English you stupid f***." Or do what you said about having the consulate send a letter. Don't redo the cert in Hindi or whatever b/c it may be construed as a fraudulent document.

Edit:
Definitely do not have anyone redo the doc. Your docs are basically the same as someone from Algeria having a document in French rather than Arabic, only in your case it happens to be in English. If the issuing authority creates the originals in English then that is the original document, and the US authorities should recognize that.

Keep in mind that:
1) our civil service (and we) are not the most well traveled people, so don't expect everyone you come across to know anything about your country's unique history.
2) there are a lot of people in this bureaucracy, so you are bound to encounter some that either don't know the rules or misapply them. If you can get someone else (i.e. someone who knows the slightest thing about India) on the phone you probably won't even need additional documentation from your embassy.

Good luck, it s nice to hear from someone immigrating the right way.

if the copy of certificate was translation from your native language, then they want a copy of the certificate that is in your language, be it Punjabi or whatever language. When you say your original is in English, does it also have a version in your native language, i have seen some that are issued in both languages on the same document.

No the original dont have any other copies in native language its just simple plain English. Original is only one copy i got which is only english no other language is used. Court in india knows that these documents goes to forgein countries thats why to be on safe side they create them in english in india.
