Don't worry about the educational part. If you passed your ASVAB, you are more than qualified in that department. If there is something you need to know that you don't, you will be taught. Marine Corps drill instructors are very good teachers. First and foremost to remember in Boot Camp is to do EVERYTHING with 100% effort exactly as you are told as fast as you can. Of course it won't be right to the DI, and you'll get yelled at a lot, that's part of it. The reason behind this is to create a stressful environment similar to what you would experience in a combat situation. The Marines want people who can think clearly under stress, hence asking you questions while other DI's are yelling at you. It is all one big game. The mental aspect is the toughest part, the constant yelling, moving, and general stress of being there will eventually break you down. However, that's part of it too, and just as easily as they were able to get inside your head and break you down, the DI's will build you back up, and you will be a disciplined, confident individual who can accomplish anything you put your mind to when you are done. When it gets tough, remember that there are hundreds of thousands who started out on the yellow footprints in Boot Camp just like you, and they all made it. If they can do it, you can too. Keep it in your head that it'll be over soon and strive to do the best that you can do, and you'll do just fine.

I didn't know Paris was on an island. Of course, you can never tell what the French will do to draw tourists.
Oh, wait. Do you mean PARRIS Island? Do you mean you're thinking of joining the best fighting force in the world; the UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS? (always spelled with a capital M). I can see you're worried about the EDUCATIONAL part since you don't know the correct spelling for the place.
Go for it! Go to this website and sign up for their newletter....and learn all about our best fighting men and women in the UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS (pronounced CORE).

What is so hard about the educational part? If you test well enough to get into the marines you will get through the educational part.

Check out this website... http://www.marineparents.com

It's THE best USMC resource on the web. It talks about boot camp, there's a message board for recruit families where you can get in touch with families who have young women at PI. Also, it's a great site to give to your parents... My Marine Corps family is there to support you and your family as you make this decision and while you're in the Corps!

I wish you the very best! uUUU-RAH!!

I went to Parris Island and I can personally tell you that it was tough both physically and mentally but if you have the desire and the motivation to be the best then you have know reason to question your future.
