Why do you use Xtians instead of Christians? If you don't have any respect of Christ you don't have no respect of the Savior Jesus. I am offended by this saying and stop mocking Christians.

Usually, it's just an abbreviation, becase "Christ" sounds like "cross", i.e. "X". Don't be so sensitive.

It's good that you asked the question. You shouldn't be offended, as the use of "X" is almost as old as Christianity. It's origins lie in Greek. The first letter in the Greek word for Christ is "chi." That letter is represented by a symbol that is almost identical to the letter 'X' in the modern Roman alphabet. Some people may be familiar with the "Chi Rho" which looks like an "X" with a "P" overlying the intersection of the "X." It is an ancient monogram for Jesus the Christ.

Certainly "Xian" can be used in an insulting manner, but rather than being created as an insulting way to refer to Christians, it is simply a "throwback" to an ancient symbol in an ancient language.

So.. please stop being offended at this, very Christian, abbreviation. In my opinion, Christians who are offended by this abbreviation are just showing how little they know of the history of their own faith. They go about accusing others of offense where often, none was intended.

We don't do it to be offensive. In my religion you aren't allowed to spell out the names of foreign idols or gods and J*sus Chr*st is not a god to my religion, hence he is a foreign god. So, you have two choices. I can either use an asterisk, or I can use the X. I choose to use the X because it represents the Greek letter of the sound I am trying to make, and it is actually more reverent than the *. So, you can choose. Which?

Also, not everyone believes in J*sus as a savior. Just because they don't write out the name does not mean they are mocking Xtians.

Back in the day, when Christians were being persecuted, the Christians needed a symbol to know each other by. So, they used Ch to show they were Christians. Ch stands for Christ. The letter X is Ch in Greek, so, no one is actually being disrespectful. The letter X stands for Ch which stands for Christ.
So, in actuality, no one is mocking you, and I think you have offended a lot of people by jumping to conclusions instead of researching your question first.

X = Chi - the first Greek letter in the word Christos (anointed one) Ancient and proper.

Stop being offended and learn church history.

Save your tithe for today and buy a clue. "X" is for Chi, the initial letter of the word "Christ" in Greek. In fact, the usage originated with "Xians."

Of course, when I use it, it's derogatory...lol.

funny thing- atheists did not make Xtians up- you should look up the origin and use of "X" in place of Christ.
I don't use it - for other reasons- but its original use was religious!

Just to piss you guys off. The same reason I don't capitalize god most of the time.

Actually it is just shorter and god only gets a capital when I am referring to a specific one.
