I don't think you know what love is, you have never gone out with this guy, so you couldn't possibly be in love with him, what you are in is lust. There is a very good chance that you could actually go out with him and find that you have absolutely nothing in common, and that after talking to him for a couple of hours, that you are not compatible. Why don't you arrange a date, and see how things go.

It sounds like you don't know how you feel about this person. It could work out over time. Altogether, it sounds like you have some criteria that he doesn't fill in your mind. Nothing wrong with going after what you really want. Tell him about your dream guy and be a friend. Go out with him with other friends around if you don't hate him. Is this guy a waste of your time? It's up to you to decide.
