hi there, my book of conversion tables gives

1 kcal = 3.965651243 BTU

I think 3.97 BTU/kcal would do the trick! :)

I like the first guys idea - 1 kcal = 2.20 pcu at 15 oC... what's a pcu??. I also have conversions for prouts, hartrees, rydbergs and frigories!! enjoy

I kilocalory (mean) is 3.9683 BTU (mean). There are other definitions of Kc and BTU besides "mean" and they differ by a small amount. Go to esb.com on the web and get their free unit converter. You can convert troy ounces to stones, everything. Dazzle your teachers. Give answers in units of beer barrels. Lot of fun.

Man, I thought there was a law against mentioning BTUs. 1 BTU raises 1 lb water 1 deg F
1 kcal raises 1 kg water 1 deg C
1 kg= 2.205 lb
1 deg C = 1.8 deg F, so
1 kcal raises 2.205 lb water 1.8 deg F
and 1 kcal = 3.98 BTU appx
