I have thick curly hair and when it is dry it gets poofy or bushy, not really sure how to describe it and it curls out to the side (its pretty long, i'm getting a haircut soon). What can i do to get rid of the bushiness or poofiness of it and what can i do to make the curls a little less curly (?). I want to keep my curls but i don't want them so curly. Anyways i'm a dude so i have no idea where to even start. so if someone (a girl preferably since they know about hairstyles and all that beauty stuff) can reccomend some shampoo or something i would appreciate it.

Go with Pantene Pro V shampoo that is made for straight silky hair. That will weigth your hair down a little bit so you won't have so much curl. Then try a gel made for curly hair-a good one is made by John Freida and you can buy it at a drug store. Use just a little and you will get rid of that puffiness. Good luck!

I'm not a girl, but...

Use a shampoo for dry hair. It won't be so quick to wash away your natural oils. A good conditioner may help tame things down, too. If regular conditioner doesn't do the job, then dry a leave in conditioner. If that doesn't do the trick, then I'm sure there are other products that will tame the curls without destroying them. There are stores that carry almost nothing except hair supplies (Sally's Beauty Supply comes to mind) and I'm sure they would be glad to help you out. Don't be embarrassed. Its ok for a guy to want to take good care of his hair.
