If you are 13, then you are probably still growing in bone and muscle mass, even if you don't increase in height. So it's very important that you take good care of your health, especially while you're trying to lose weight. It also means you don't need to drastically lower your caloric intake to lose weight. Sometimes just eating a balanced diet and exercising helps.

Don't ever:
*Skip meals
*Take weight-loss stimulants
*Refuse yourself food when you feel hungry.
*Eat a "meal" that is *only* a piece of fruit (this will only make you hungrier)
*Set a goal weight below your natural weight category

Do:
*Exercise moderately -- 20-40 mins., 3-5 times a week is good.
*Eat breakfast
*Try to eat something fruit or vegetable *with* every meal
*Take a multivitamin regularly. Make sure you're getting enough iron and calcium.
*Weigh yourself only once or twice a week.

If you are properly nourished, you will find you have a lot more energy--and feeling energetic and active will actually help you lose weight more effectively if you are over your natural weight. Your body is not mathematical--it is a living entity, and will be at its best if you take good care of it (not starve it).

If you deprive yourself of calories and nutrients, you may lose a few pounds quickly at first. But you will gradually feel more lethargic and depressed, and your body will go into starvation-mode, which means your metabolism will drop and you won't lose weight. When you stop the diet, you risk regaining all the weight you lost.

People go on diets for a number of reasons. I don't know what you weigh now, but it's possible either your doctor told you you may be overweight, or maybe you just want to look/feel more attractive... or maybe you feel very badly about your looks and feel like you need a drastic change. Whatever the case is, it's important to take care of your mental health as well. Remember that you are more than your outside. You're not just a number. You are a beautiful person, inside and out.

*Make a list of all your good qualities and put it somewhere you can see it.
*Treat yourself as you want others to treat you.

Eat 6 small healthy meals a day, get 30 minutes of cardio 4-6 days a week, 30 minutes of weight training 2-3 days a week, drink plenty of water, take vitamins, get plenty of rest at night, no carbs past 4:00 pm, and try not to eat after 7:00 pm. It is that simple. Its not a diet, it is having a healthy lifestyle

You should follow that basic food pyramid (you know the picture of all the food groups on the pyramid and how many suggested servings you eat a day). That way you definately get all of the health and nutrition that you need. I do not think that you should do any set dieting to lose weight or anything like that unless you are excessively overweight because that could hurt you at your age.

The only diet you need, is to make sure you are getting your fruits, vegetables and proteins, and that the serving size is the size of the palm of your hand. You also need to make sure that you get enough calcium (milk) so you can have strong, healthy bones. A nice walk will do you good too:)

Depends on what you want to look like? Just hold off on sodas, Try to not eat as much bagels, rice, pastas because carbs will get you big unless you exercise! I suggest 30 minutes of running. The weather is getting nice! All you need is will power.

Please contact a registered dietician (RD) for recommendations for your age, height and weight. That's great that you are wanting to eat healthier, but please don't deprive yourself and become undernourished and underweight. That's why talking with a dietician can really be beneficial in so many ways. There should be one at your local hospital(s) or some have their own office practice. He or she can calculate how many daily calories you should have, how many servings of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, fats (preferably monounsaturated such as with olive oil) and (lean such as skinless, broiled chicken, fish, nuts) proteins.
