For the second time I am giving Lexapro a shot. I have never used any antidepressants in my life so I am a bit worried about some of the things I hear. My first question is if I work with my diet and exercise to balance my brain how can it balance correctly on a pill. Anotherwords if I go to get off this pill will I have a major defficancy in seretonin levels? I have also heard that when u go off Lexapro that its not easy and u go downhill and have suicidal thoughts. I want whats best for my body I hope you understand what I am saying about trying say. Thanx

Ive been on lexapro for 3 years, and i dont care what some "psychiatrist" says because lexapro works, i was on 10 mg for a year and got off it with no relapse of depression, then later that year bad stuff happened and i got back on it and it literally saved my life, it also stopped the panic attacks i was having. it really works, it doesnt effect my diet or my excersise and it doesnt perminantly affect seretonin production

Wad up Nate dogg, I hear ya, the thing about anti depressants is for the first 2 - 3 weeks they f*** with your head then they start to work but the feelings are not happy, not sad but emotionless, cloud over your head, that's only how i can explain it, and you'll have to increase your dose overtime, and then when you do decide to come off them then you get a second head f*** which is a little worse than the first one. So all in all anti D's suck. If your main concern is anxiety GET valium but dont abuse it, do all your excercise and good diet and then have a couple of valium, if and when you need them, what they do is calm you, you'll feel chilled out it's not a heavy drug effect it's light and cruisy. Doctors seem to only want to prescribe antidepressants these days, cause of valium/ benzodiazipine abuse, in a way its fair enough but it's not right. I think i may have explained some of this before, do what ever you think is best but i'd suggest to go to different drs until you find one that prescribes benzo's, oh yeh leave out the depression part if ya tryin to get val just say anxiety and insomnia type symptoms. Hope this helps. A drug free life is the best, but if ya gonna take anti-depressants just remember you'll prob be on em for ever. Same goes for valium though i can't lie about that once you have em for i while you need em, but i'd rather that than the lexapro, zoloft or any other crap. good luck champ, good idea about the exercise etc.

Get off of that stuff now - it is not good for you. And has really bad withdrawals. Try www.neurogenesis.com or www.seredyn.com - neurogenesis has anxiety/ depression medicines and also they actually have something that will help you withdraw as you taper off.

Herbal remedies such as these can be just as effective as antidepressants. Try it out.

Antidepressants cause hundreds of people to commit suicide each year. They should be taken off the market.

Get off this stuff now before it screws you up even more.
Stop seeing your psychiatrist. They cannot tell you what is in your mind. Psychiatry is NOT a science.
