Yes! Most definitely!
While housing is expensive in Portland, it is no where near the cost of housing in southern California. You can rent a two bedroom apt. in a decent area for $800 (and up). You can purchase a modest 3 bdrm home for $250,000 in a nice neighborhood. These are estimates, you can look online for more specific info.
There is no sales tax in Oregon, though there is a state income tax. Grocery items and other products are comparable. Oregon's minimum wage is third in the nation behind Alaska and Washington state. The cost of licensing vehicles is cheaper.
Portland is a wonderful city. The weather is temperate, only a few hot days in the summer, and only a few really cold days (freezing or below) in the winter. It does rain. A lot. But that is what makes everything so green! And there are many indoor activities available for those rainy days when you just have to get out and do something.

Oregon is much cheaper than California. You can buy a nice place in Portland for about $250,000. You can rent a nice place for $600. Portland has a lot to offer. The jobs will not pay as high as Los Angeles but you are still better off financially in Portland. It snows from time to time in Portland. It is green and pretty since there is a good amount of rain. It does not rain every day of the year like so many people say. There is far less traffic compared to California. The people are friendlier. The pace of life is slower. Oregon is a beautiful state. I would love to live there!

Yes! The diff. is like night & day. The people are much friendlier. Outdoor activities like fishing, skiing(snow or water), hike on thousands of miles of trails and the gorge is the wind-surfing capital of the world. We have many micro-breweries all over the city. Small towns abound that are still (small towns) less than a half hour from anywhere you go. We do have rain, but that is what makes this place so green. The Oregon coast is very well known for its beauty. You can still get a nice home for under $300,000. Our airport is very easy to use and can be accessed by light-rail. Check it out on line, you will see how great this place really is.

It is WAY cheaper. However when I moved back to Portland I had to remember that the night life is not the same as California. It's still pretty great though!
